Great turnout of LU folks in the stadium. They are not being treated to an impressive performance.

Why is Salter not running? There are openings aplenty. Receivers are doing him no favors. Frustrating day that reminds me of the NM State game.

Because Salter is playing on one ankle. Chadwell
made a mistake playing Salter not at 100 percent.

Yep. Salter should have taken this one off and helped on the bench. Burger should have gotten the start. Our entire offence runs through a mobile QB. When we don't have that .... we score 9 points in the first half.

If Burger starts, the game is closer, and by the second half he has a bit more confidence. Sam Houston still scores the same, because our defense is playing like they're wearing baby blue or something.

If Salter is t playing he’s completely disengaged. The camera caught him laughing and joking after the second SH TD.
He was so impressive last year he had made an incredible amount of progress. This year? MIA. They should play Berger in the Bowl game so he can get those extra reps in practice and prepare for next year.

1 drive looked good. You must be forgetting about the other drives where he looked uninspired
……and he throws an INT

Have to give Salter a lot of credit for gutting it out. Almost pulled it out. Not staying with Cooley on that next to last drive and a poorly executed 2 point conversion cost them.

Not kicking the field goal on 4th and very long was quite a choice too.

Salter and this receiver group never clicked. We went from having the most explosive downfield pass game in the conference last year to the worst. Salter was off this year… but our WRs didn’t help much between the drops, running the wrong routes and moving too much against zone defenses. In zone, you find the soft spot and you sit - they seemed to be jumpy/not confident when teams played zone.

Our DBs were not great this year. Last year we had two of the best in Singleton and Hodge and this two were clearly missed this year. Also, I really don’t love that we have co-Coordinators on both sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see if Chadwell makes any changes in style this offseason IF he doesn’t transfer out himself.

Which one? There are Co Defensive Coordinators.

Salter significantly regressed but I don't think the massive number of injuries to our receivers/tight ends gets talked about enough. It's tough to have chemistry with your receivers when they are a revolving door all season. I won't be sad to see Salter go at this point but the blame doesn't fall entirely on him.

As far as the defense goes I think next year should be the make or break season for whoever is calling the plays on defense. During year one our secondary was the strength of the defense and the line sucked. Year two the line took a step forward and the secondary took a step back. From day one chadwell prioritized high school, juco and underclassmen transfers to build towards year 3 and 4. The talent should be there, if the defense is still lackluster I believe it'll be time for a change.

What a frustrating end to the season for all parties involved. We had a enchant for pulling out these ugly performances early in the season. And we nearly pulled it off on a night where we had no business doing so. Twice in the 4th quarter my son & I were heading to the exit on a frigid evening when events on the field gave us reason to head back to our seats.

It will be interesting to see how the staff approaches the bowl game. It could be an opportunity to let Salter & Cooley get another shot at impressing pro scouts. Or it could be viewed as an opportunity to see what the staff has to utilize in 2025. With the portal, this is not as obvious as it might've been a few years back.
