I think we played Villanova in playoffs in December.

We have extra time to work on defense for North Texas. We need a pass rush on their QB. He's leading nation in passing I believe. Plus our DBs cannot lay off WRs 10-15 yards at line of scrimmage.

You all stay safe. Getting in extra practice for UNT should be far from your focus.

If we had played NSU, despite the Vegas spread, there is no way we could afford to take that game lightly. We would have been focusing on a game plan for them and could not start working on prep for N Texas til after the game.

Your concern is certainly appreciated. While Lynchburg is almost sure to get a huge amount of rain, the storm will be down to a tropical depression by the time it gets there, so high winds should not be a big issue. The campus is on high ground, and with our indoor facility, I actually would expect practices to be held pretty much as normal.

Especially if there is no lightning in the area, the almost certainly will be practicing.

Ahem. Conference championship games are considered "regular season."

They may be, but technically they're not, in my opinion.

I wish NCAA had never allowed them. Creates unbalanced schedules in some conferences.

Since we're playing in December, I hope the cheerleaders anf the band all wear Santa Claus hats! They'd match the uniforms. Don't know how feasible it is, but just a thought! :)

This cracked me up.

Never change Ballcoach. You’re just as irrelevant as ever.

The school is shutting down Tuesday, and will be closed at least til the 17th (obviously could be longer if there is significant damage). The entire area is under an evacuation order. If they had chosen to play, I´m sure arrangements were made for them to stay in lynchburg till the storm passed. I don´t blame them at all for not wanting to do it.

The fact that this game was quickly rescheduled reinforces the idea that we had no desire to play Nebraska.

If you want to talk technicalities ballcoach, the Big South has never had an official "championship game". There have been de facto games given that the winner is the conference champion, but no we never played in anything dubbed the (unnecessary corporate sponsor) Big South Championship Game...that being said, bama24 is correct in saying that conference championship games are considered "regular season" games

Just noticed that East Carolina, now missing a game as result of Virginia Tech cancellation, has an open date Oct. 27 as does Liberty. Possibility to work something out with ECU?

ECU is BAD(Read: Really Good) right now. They are playing way above their weight and holding their own. Even after their beat down of UNC 41-19, ECU is mystically ranked 105 on FPI. That is deceiving and would be setting us up to get demolished by a G5 school.

I want to see us compete against UNT before I would think we can not get smacked by them.

Are we talking about the same ECU, the one that was 3-9 the last two seasons and lost to NC A&T in this season's opener?

While i don´t blame either for putting the safety of their players first, it looks to me like ECU had more reason to cancel/reschedule early than NSU did. If Florence continues to go the way it is tracking, there will likely be a lot of second guessing, but if one person were harmed because playing a football game was put ahead of safety there would be a lot more, and rightly so.

Keep in mind, the primary issue in both of these cancellations has little to do with the weather in Lynchburg or Blacksburg at game time, but rather what will be happening in Norfolk and Greenville.

How'd I get included here 😳
