JLFJR - My presentation was that we had planned to go indepeendent all along until thr realignment started in 2011. We had planned to go like Notre Dame did and BYU did. It is tough for a private religious institution to go FBS.

JLFJR referencing that letter from the Notre Dame Chancellor back in 2012. They used it as part of their presentation.

JLFJR - talking about the other FBS schools in the area - "attendance will go from 20,000 to 40,000 over night"

Ian - All of the NCAA requirements we already meet in regard to scholarships and attendance. It is a pathway that we can go down and we can excel in it.

Turner Gill - The national exposure. Even today I can see that I can get into some homes. Kids will tell us that we didn't play at the top level. But now we can squash that.

Stadium expansion question - JLFJR. 6,000 addition on student side and "additional seating" to take us over 30,000. Doing it in between seasons like we did with the current tower.

I will say, the one part of this that excites me is the potential for a consistent rivalry with ODU.

JLFJR - We have plans in place to add another 6000 seats on the upper deck. But we probably need to add additional seating to get us up to 35k. Hopefullyw e can do it between seasons like we did in 2009-2010.

I really hope that the Big South is willing to keep all of our other sports!!! That's my biggest concern. We've been pretty faithful. Hopefully they will allow us to stay!!
I think LU can make this work if the Big South keeps all of our other sports. We will be able to put together an FBS independent schedule.

This. ODU was very vocal about how much they enjoyed playing us a few years back.

JLFJR - He'd be jumping up and down just like the lawyer on the phone. He was jumping up and down and he is up in Boston and he was crying and saying "Praise be to God".

JLFJR - I didn't think the news would come today and be public today. It caught us by surprise.

Ian - We are going to do this in a wise manner and in a way that is conducive to us being successful moving forward.

Since the Big South tourney is held at the higher seeds for men, where will the Big South presidents meet to decide our fate in the Big South for other sports? Will it depend on who wins these next games, or will they meet during the women's tournament?

Haha I just saw this on facebook and can't believe it's happening! It'll definitely be interesting to see what scheduling will look like in the upcoming years as an independent.

If the Big South does indeed decides to kick Liberty out all together. They will have no problem getting into the ASun. Theyre desperate for members and stability.

Scheduling might be a challenge as an Independent, but the big thing, combined with stadium expansion, is that it opens the door to a lot of nice possibilities for much better home games. I'm excited thinking about some of the teams that will play at LU someday, hopefully sooner than later.

Thinking this will enhance chances to actually wind up in a conference before too long.

Also wondering if the rule is still in place for programs in transition to actually be included in the bowl picture if there aren't enough 6-win teams (which could be the case in 2018).

Wow. Didn't see this coming. I hope the BSC sees the opportunity that LU has and allows us to stay in the Big South. We are one of the oldest and most competitive schools in the conference. If the BSC cuts Liberty loose, the BSC will suffer. I hope the addition of Campbell football helps. I am wondering what will happen, though, if the BSC says no. There are ramifications in basketball and baseball especially.
