"they changed coaches" you don't commit to a coach. "he is just a kid" then his commit should have not been accepted till he was older. my thinking is you didn't want me for they past 2 years and now that you have an available scholly we will allow you to come here to get beat up on the practice squad. because surely if you were gonna be a starter for us we would have offered 8 months ago.

hate to disagree, but I do. When you buy a car cant you take back up to 3 days later, when you open a bank account cant you change it as well. I totally agree when its the coaches that will sit up and lie to you and your parents faces a lot of the times talking about how much they want you and need you then if you don't project to be what they want you to be they don't wanna let you go to a different school but don't wanna let you leave either. the only way they let you leave is if you don't go to a school within conference or a team they may play on schedule. That's a crock of bs, I was good enough to have you lie to me and my family but because you think someone is better im pushed to the curb. These kids go places party based on school and based on coaches, so if the coach leaves and I felt a connection with him then yes I would want to leave as well.

Sly Fox wrote:If you follow the coaches Twitter feeds, you know that we have invested a great deal of time working our existing commitments. Dirty 30 can attest to that fact. Harvey actually played the system the right way. Commit to a school you could see yourself enjoying so they will hold you a spot. If something from a higher level comes later then you can reassess the situation. It is exactly DeCarlo Hamilton is doing as well. Of course from the school's perspective, a commitment should actually mean what the word suggests.
Sly Fox, your right. A Liberty coach has been in to see Brandon every other week. He knows they love him and want him to be a Flame or else they would not be here as much as they have been as well as the contact. They know South Carolina and Clemson are trying to come in the back door. I know he is not the only recruit they are doing this with but it makes a difference. Show more love to your commitments hoping in the long run that they understand your not just a number or filling a vacancy on a bigger schools board. You will end up on the scout team for two years getting your brains beat in and then look to transfer and waste a year when should be somewhere that you had an opportunity to play.

Join the club - it's a new way of thinking, the Facebook/twitter/selfie generation. "What can you do for me?"

I think you raised them right and those values do exist but they are not as common as they used to be. Society is changing, unfortunately not for the better.

Sigmo,

I can understand what your saying but its hard for me to believe that if 45 would have committed to LU first then say UVA or VT came calling that you would have had a problem with him changing his mind. IMO, that's like your going to buy a car at one place you leave to go get the check from the bank you stop by another dealership and they make you a better offer on the same vehicle that you would be willing to still pay more. I think your making more of it than what it really is. But nonetheless I still respect your opinion.

BYD,

THEY ARE just pawns to them. PERIOD no matter how you wanna slice it or dice it. They tell the kids what they think they wanna or need to hear to get them hear. If the kid is working out for them then it a plus if the kid is not then they crap on them push them out or to the bottom of the barrel. Remember the schollies are 1 year recurring so if your not "wanted" trust me they can make it hard on the kids. Then they tell you that you can leave but under "certain" conditions. To me that's jacked up you don't want me but now wanna possibly stop me from going somewhere that may. When the coaches leave what do they do, hold a press conference and say oh im trying to do whats best for my family, but the kid can't. HYPOCRISY at its finest. The coaches penalize the kid for not being what they want them to be or what the coaches thought they should be. But now we are going to sit here and get upset at a kid for doing what he may or may not think is in his best interest. Man kill that nonsense. THIS is a BUSINESS and the in the end its a matter of who can play the game better.

That's where you are wrong, when Nick said he was gonna commit to LU me and mom both talked to him and let him know once he gave his WORD it was over. The car analogy and committing to a college makes zero sense to me. You can change your mind about buying anything in the world. I don't see a lot of people proclaiming on FB or twitter that they have committed to buy a car from a certain dealer in 6 months. Buyers remorse is a terrible thing. When Rocco left I was as ticked as the next person, but he never told us" I will be here for life ". Rocco had some bearing on Nick choosing LU but was by no means the only reason. When Rocco left for Richmond a funny thing happened, LU was still only 50 minutes from home, the facilities stayed the same. My tailgate spot didn't move. Verbally Committing to a school locks you into zip, and kids change their mind from time to time which is their right to do. IF YOUR NOT 100% SURE DON'T SAY IT.We are having this discussion in this thread and i'm not pointing the finger at this kid cause I don't care where he goes to school. But using him as an example I would like to see a post on twitter or facebook stating how he hopes his decision to decommitte from LU doesn't effect the way people perceive his character but Nevada is his dream school he has been rooting for them since he was 5. I resort back to the fact if you are waiting on an FBS offer don't commit to an FCS early on in the gameu] unless you are sure. Rocco told us he would hold a scholarship for Nick till when ever. Nick didn't have to commit in September, he could have waited till signing day if he wanted to. However he made his decision and stayed true to his word. Nick wasn't as sought after as this kid so I would say he probably had till March.
