I've talked to some people and they have said that one of the balls down the sideline and the one across the middle on 3rd and 5 should've been caught. They were good throws from Brock and Brock's getting all of the heat for it, when Wynton should be getting it.

As for Rashad, they say he's 50/50 right now. At the end of practice he was doing some drills with the quarterbacks working on handoffs and stuff like that.

Certainly, there are times you guys down on the 50 yard line have much better views of things than us up in the press box. Those throws may be one of those things. To my naked eye, it appeared two were overthrows and one could have gone either way. But they were all on the other side of the field well away from where I was.

To be clear, Wynton was taking some of the blame for making bad reads on where the balls were going.

LU's Jennings will play Saturday; how much has yet to be determined

By Chris Lang
Lynchburg News & Advance
October 18, 2006

Danny Rocco uttered the two words Liberty football fans wanted to hear after practice Wednesday.

"He'll play," the first-year head coach said.

Rocco was referring to running back Rashad Jennings, who ranks 11th in Division I-AA with 127.2 rushing yards per game but was injured on the first play of the second half last Saturday against William & Mary.

Tuesday, Rocco classified the injury as a high-ankle sprain and said Jennings was "questionable" for Saturday's game against Gardner-Webb.

Jennings didn't participate in any contact drills Wednesday. But after practice, he took handoffs from quarterback Zach Terrell and worked on some of the plays Liberty will run Saturday.

Jennings seemed to run without pain. His practice schedule this week will be limited to non-contact drills.

"We don't know how much or how early he'll play," Rocco said. "But he'll play."

Rocco has options at tailback if Jennings aggravates the injury. Freshman Terron Lawrence has run for 221 yards on 35 carries, mostly in mop-up duty. Terrell, who finished last season as the Flames' No. 1 tailback, could see time in the backfield, too.

Great news! If he is able to go the whole game, we should be able to win. I have much more confidence in us winning with him in the back field. Without him, it could be a tough go.

As long as he can help us with 8-10 plays it would be awesome. Those could be difference makers. This is fantastic news. I wasn't expecting him back til next week based on the rumblings.

we don't need idiot fans like that. Tell them not to bother. :x

also tell them Zach, Greiser, Rojas and SRL appreciate it and may stop by whatever rock they live under to thank them personally.

Does anyone else think The Hummer is a stupid nickname? Rashad will roll right over people but I don't think that's a great name. Now, if his last name was Hennings instead of Jennings we could call him H3 and it would actually make sense.

Great news to hear Rashad will be back for a few plays atleast...Having a guy like that back there even if only for a decoy could end up very beneficial

Yep i thought the same thing....personally to me.....he is more like a Sherman ( sp ?) tank - a big man hitting the whole, but i think those things have a like a top speed of 65 of something. But again, i will probably be the only one who likes that.

The Sherman was actually a death trap, compared with the German Panzers. Very thin skinned and not as much firepower, but highly manuverable. Now the Soviet T-34--THAT was a tank.

yeah but we produced thousands of them- so even with a much higher attrition rate, we kicked Panzer butt.

While your history may be correct, nicknaming him t-34 would be worse than hummer. I am sure we can find the name of some tank that might fit. But others may have better ideas.

Let's ditch the AFV thing and just call him Juggernaut.

Just name him Sgt. Slaughter and be done with it. and if you must have some kind of connection I had his GI Joe and he drove a tank.

FYI -- since I won't have a story running before Saturday's preview -- Rashad practiced the last two days with no red jersey, so he's going to be good to go Saturday. He told me today he's feeling better than he has in the last two weeks. He looked pretty good going through some contact today.

If you listen to Bennett's Wednesday presser, he's fully expecting Jennings to play. So this really isn't shocking news to them.

Thanks for the heads up. I was somewhat resigned to him not playing. But I'll bet if he does show much in his first few carries then we'll see plenty from Zach.

I love Rashad in there but Zach is so good that we don't really drop off that much if Rashad is not in there. Zach is a big time player. He constantly makes guys miss. That is not an accident. Even if Jennings plays, I think Zach needs more touches. Throws in the flat and things like that just like the Eagles do with Westbrook or the way the Rams used to use Marshall Faulk. Reggie Bush comes to mind as well.

I couldn't agree with this more....but until Westbrook and Bush...Terrell can also throw that ball as an option as well. To have a bruiser pounding on you and then the next carry is a guy who is lightning fast with his moves could be a nightmare for Coastal. ( Or we better hope it is, cause we need to establish some ground game to really open up the play action)
