2 more offers for Brandon. UNC Charlotte and Miami (OH). Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Florida Atlantic, USC and Clemson have been in contact. He has also been invited to a workout for the New York Yankees on Wednesday, August 12 in Asheboro, NC. I will keep you posted.

Dirty 30 wrote:Thanks guys glad to be a part of the board. I am looking forward to following Liberty Football and baseball for a long time. Coach Bennett is a big Liberty Fan and Brandon really enjoyed his visit. Even though he is committed to Liberty, schools have still been recruiting him and Wake Forest LB Coach message him on twitter yesterday and Georgia Tech and Georgia Southern are still interested but they all have not said if they will allow him to play baseball and that is a major requirement for him. He said it would take alot for him not to go to Liberty, he loves it and can't wait to be a flame in 2016. I have a idea for the NCAA:I believe the NCAA should make a rule that when a student athlete verbally commits that no school should be allowed to recruit that kid. Treat it just like a LOI. This would help both parties and the kid can move on and enjoy his senior year. That is the reason kids commit early so they can be done with the recruiting process and enjoy there last year of high school. What do you guys think?
Not gunna happen. A former member of this board who is on our football staff was famous for saying ¨verbals mean nothing¨. I miss Libertine. Funniest guy we ever had on here IMHO. Actually, the LOI was instituted by the NCAA to end the recruiting process. Before that, prospects were literally in play till they enrolled (and still are if they don´t sign a LOI). If a player is strongly committed, it´s basically up to him to let the other schools who are still after him know he is not interested. In the twitter age, that´s really not hard. A perfect example of how to do it is Aiden Burroughs committment tweet. Ï would play for no other school¨. Not saying he hasn´t had anone else contact him since then. Maybe his dad, ¨flamesfreak¨can tell us. I would think most coaches would back off when they read something like that though.

That article makes it sound like if one of those ACC teams decide to offer Brandon a football scholarship and allow him to play baseball, he is likely to accept it. It would be hard to blame him. The fact is though that 2 sport athletes are becoming more and more rare at the P5 level, and especially football/baseball, where there is a huge conflict with Spring Training.

I agree Oldflame. It would be tough at any level. He is a very good baseball player as well and is a draft prospect. He could have a decision to make if he is drafted high enough and the money is worth going to play pro ball. He really wants to play football so he could play pro baseball and still play football in college. That could be an option. He said in a interview that it would take a lot for him not to go to Liberty. I guess time will tell.

Story in The state paper on Brandon Tillmon

River Bluff’s Brandon Tillmon has not missed a beat since high school football practice began earlier this month. The senior left-handed quarterback has transitioned after spending most of his summer playing outfield and pitching right-handed for his travel baseball team.

Wait, what?

That’s correct – Tillmon is a left-handed quarterback and a right-handed baseball player. Athletes at the highest level have a hard time achieving such a feat, but it’s something Tillmon has done since he was 7 years old.

Sly Fox,

He planned to go to the Montana game this Saturday but his two little sisters have a birthday party this Saturday and he did not want to miss it. They are six years apart (12yrs old & 6 yrs old) but both have September birthdays, Sept. 10 & Sept. 15. Right now his plan is to attend the Kennesaw St or PC game but he will definitely attend the Coastal Carolina Thursday night game unless his high school team is still in the playoffs. Clemson, Georgia Tech, USC and Georgia Southern have been in contact and have been inviting him to their games but he has not attended any college games this season. Oregon St contacted him on Monday and are showing interest. I ask him if any of the schools have changed their minds about letting him play baseball and he said no but the school that matters is letting him play both! Sounds like Liberty is fine :-)

No problem. Thanks for everything you do for recruiting and information for Liberty Football. I have become a big Liberty fan since Brandon committed this summer.

Bennett's "We Need More Dogs" press conference still makes me laugh.

Perhaps I'm simply being obvious, but I imagine that coach Gill would be a really helpful resource for a recruit such as Tillman since he, himself, was an accomplishedl baseball player & quarterback at Nebraska. Especially since he went on to play in the pros in both sports.

LU Dad,

He mentions that in every interview when they ask him why he committed to Liberty when he had so many D-1 schools recruiting him. Coach Gill was the first coach to offer him and tell him he can play both and be successful doing both. Coach Gill made a huge impression on him during the visit. He committed a few days after that visit.

The Gators have won 4 in a row. Tillmon has been impressive the last two weeks. He has rushed 16 times for 175 yds and 5 TD's and has been 5 for 9 passing for 129 yds and 1 TD the last two games. He did not play the 2nd half this past Friday because of the score at halftime.
