And for those saying we got a bad draw. Please stop. What an opportunity vs another FBS wanna be.
And please note that as good as Vad has been, their defense is ranked #92. For reference we are #57. They have the #51 SOS, us? #2.

Now, their offense is #8 at 497ypg but we are #32 with 426ypg.
Could be a shootout. But if we can have sustained drives and our D shows up? Big time W.

I love this matchup.

LU should go FBS before JMU.

As for being disappointed with selection committee, I am not over it yet. Richmond probably got best deal of any of the 24 schools to make playoffs. They finished 4th in their conference, yet they get a home game against one of the weaker teams in the playoffs. Richmond should have been the 24th seed. Even better, they should not have made playoffs.

Heinicke stats vs. Liberty

39/52 for 450 yards
2 TDs and 2 interceptions

He was bad in the redzone, but he moved the ball. And he won the game while playing with a concussion.

We had opportunities to seal the deal and didn't. They had opportunities to seal the deal and did. Heinicke won the game with :28 to go in the 4th. End of story.

Now back to JMU.

Agreed...Lee is probably the best or second best FCS QB we will face (although I think that changes the further we go along), so the defense needs to be letter perfect from the word go.

Against the #1 defense in the country (Stony Brook), Vad had 3 TDs for 314 in the air and 79 on the ground.

Realize this, it just may be a shootout, with our D you never know. If we shut them down like that its a bonus, but we should'nt be surprised at the fact that we may end up giving up some scores thru out this one. If we give up something its the "norm" and if we stop them its the D having a great day. Like I said earlier, LU has only been blown out of a FCS game once under HCTG (Montana). I don't think JMU is Montana

To clear up some misconceptions raised:

There is no seeding in the tournament outside of the top 8 teams.

Richmond finished fourth in a conference that was much deeper and tougher at the top.

Richmond beat Liberty. At Liberty. And the only reason the game went to OT was that Rocco left too much time on the clock at the end of regulation.

The committee did not want a regular-season rematch in round one, so the Morgan State-Richmond matchup had to happen. William & Mary would have been coming to Lynchburg Saturday and Morgan State to JMU had the Tribe won.

When I said "bad" or "worst" draw on Twitter, that was poor word choice. I should have said "toughest" possible draw.

But of course it's not too surprising that someone who thinks he was there in person for a game that never even happened(JMU never played URI this year) also thinks the "crowd is usually pitiful" at the school that ranks #2 in FCS attendance. Elon, yes, crowd was pitiful. Students are gone.

This.

JMU fans are not ones to be talking smack about. In my book, they are #2 behind Montana among FCS (I won't rank Liberty :)).

It just takes one look at their forums to validate anyone who chooses to talk smack about them. At a casual glance there are a lot of fans over there (and over here) that earn whatever shots get fired.

None of the JMU fans on here are causing trouble.

Just because a few JMU fans cross lines on their forum doesn't mean that we should. It doesn't help when we say stupid things about them on here.

My bad dude. I saw URI at Richmond. I go to a ton of games, and they begin to run in together. I was at the W&M game at JMU in the rain. Was an OK crowd for the rain, but not great. Was a good game.

All good, just had to fire back after you said our crowd is usually pitiful

In all honesty, we have our ups and downs as far as the crowd goes, it's not as great as it used to be. There are too many fans that seem to be there for the tailgate more than anything, too many come in late and leave early. People, students especially, can be pretty fair weather in a literal sense. A little rain and the crowd can get pretty thin outside of the hardcore fans that always fill section 109(tons from our board in there). I'd imagine it also has to do with the fact we haven't gone FBS yet. All the excitement built, especially with the new stadium, had a lot to do with an assumption we would be FBS by now in my opinion.

Not sure what to expect Saturday, I think it'll be good, I hope it'll be great. We've gotta hope a good chunk of students come back early, and that the holiday weekend doesn't keep a lot of other fans away as well. Hopefully the excitement of playoff football outweighs all that. The fact that we're playing Liberty should also generate more excitement, and many more visiting fans, than someone like Morgan State would have.
