I know by the time next Saturday rolls around I will be fired up for this conference championship game but right now I just can't get rid of that nagging feeling that this team is not different at all.

This game showed signs of disaster from the first play (when Masha mishandled the snap). We've had zero ability stopping the run all year, even against the teams we shut out. I really thought they were going to do it this year but not playing defense like that.

After further review this goes both on offense some as well, the reason I say that is be cuz the turnovers provided CSU with a short field which we were not able to stop them on, then the rest is strictly on the DEFENSE for not being able to stop the option.

The option assignments hv not changed over the years mlb tackles the FB/dive back, the OLB has pitch , DE has QB and the safety is in the alley how hard is that to teach or rep...

If you think we have a chance against Coastal - you're going to end next Saturday by throwing things against the wall.

Answered my own question-We were ranked 45th in team defense before this game and didn't crack the top 50 in time of possession. Finished I believe 15th last year in team defense. I honestly don't think Woodrum on the field would have made a difference today. The Bucs are in a bad position with 6 D1 wins heading to play UGA needing that 7th win to become playoff eligible.

I want to know what's up with Josh's knee. I don't trust anything Gill says about the injury (i.e. if he'll play, etc) and we know he won't give details.

He practiced the entire time Wednesday. Didn't practice Thursday as a precaution but was still supposed to play Saturday. Friday night it comes out he's not going to play. Saturday it's said he'll be back this week.

What could be serious enough to hold him out today but small enough to bring him back to practice early next week?

Maybe a mild sprain that could have gotten worse if he played. I saw him during warm-ups and he had regular shoes on both feet, no walking boot or cast in sight.

He looked pretty impaired during the game as he used crutches to get around and never would bend his knee as he walked and never put weight on his affected leg.

In the grand scheme of things this game was meaningless. Either way a win next week and we are in. And in true LU fashion we ALMOST won this one

It may have been meaningless, but follow the timeline:

Wednesday: practices the entire day.
Thursday: held out for precaution; expected to play Saturday.
Friday evening: ruled out for the game.
Saturday: could barely walk, didn't put pressure on leg.
Saturday night: expected to play next week.

By every sign, it's an injury that's getting worse. We all know not to pay any attention to what Gill says about injuries so we can't go by anything he says.

It's times like this I semi-wish we were a state school so we could find out what the deal is.

Even more reason not to trust anything Gill says about injuries:
Stephon Masha knew by Thursday and the rest of the Flames knew by Friday night that Woodrum was out.

Wow. Chadwell publicly questioning Gill's play calling. On the 2-pt conversion:
“I didn’t understand the call, and they didn’t get it, so we’re still up two scores,” Chadwell said. “Now you’re like, ‘OK, we’re still fine.’ That was the difference in the game.”

They could have easily scored on their last drive if they needed to. Missed PAT is inconsequential.
We chased that missed extra point the rest of the night. It ended up costing us two more points. We lost by 2. I could name about 5 more what ifs though. But the main reason we lost was Charleston Southern refused too. They are a good team.

Run defense still can't defend the option. Offense did enough. We still control our future which is a rare place for us. If Barry can get Woodrum ready to go for Coastal I still like our position.

For whatever reason, the defense looked lost all night. We gave up 359 yards rushing, but I thought not stopping pass hurt more. We got burnt several times. Defensive line had a bad game.

Great quote in Lang's article:
“If there’s a team dumb enough to go one on one with our receivers, then that’s their fault,” said Peterson, who finished with 10 catches for 123 yards and broke Chris Summers’ single-season school receiving yardage mark.

Purple...I learned as much from you as I did from Dr. Gibson! I think this year is over so I will check on us next year to see where we stand. I'm more excited about the possibility of us being in Confernce USA than us ever making the playoffs at this point!

Hold up... Are you talking about Coach Gill or Coach Belichick?

After the disappearing act the last couple games, ,Petey showed why he probably is the top wideout in the Big South today. there are very few DBs that can hang with him one on one on a consistent basis. All three of his touchdowns today were absolutely sick

Fun fact: In three years, Turner Gill is 17-13 against Division I schools. In the same time, Joe Moglia is 31-8.

Let's go beat Coastal, fellas!
