krh44 - I suspect we will continue to play VMI regularly for years to come. There doesn't appear to be bad blood between our athletic department and theirs despite them jumping back to the SoCon. Proximity alone makes them a common opponent on all of our schedules moving forward.

Flames weren't exactly on top of their game today, but if there aren't moral wins, there aren't moral losses.. Nice W!!

It's been said multiple times throughout the week that we aren't playing them anymore in football.

I haven't paid as close attention as I would like. But I had assumed the references I was hearing were to how we wouldn't be playing them as league members anymore with them joining the SoCon in football next fall. If ties are being cut completely by either school, that would be very disappointing.

It sounded this week like it was a clean break and there were no plans to play in any of the major sports. Id like to keep them in basketball but no go in baseball and football.

It's been said 100's of times throughout the 1st quarter of the broadcast that we aren't playing them anymore in football.

I caught that but Mike kept saying it was because they were moving to the SoCon. It didn't imply that they were persona non gratis around Williams Stadium. But like I mentioned earlier, I didn't have my ear as close to the ground this week as I clearly should have.

VMI will have fewer schedule spots to fill, and they generally like to play someone from the W&M/JMU/UR group, an FBS and a winnable home game (DII or MEAC or something like that). Liberty is trying to build a more national schedule. I just don't think the two philosophies are going to mesh. No animosity between the sides.

Oh well , hopefully we are moving on to bigger and better things. Who knows? Maybe we will be like VA Tech & WVU and reschedule down the road.

I really think that if Woodrum hit that first pass, this is a totally different game. A completion there sets a distinct tone for the rest of the game, and I really think that Liberty wins that game big. That was a pivotal overthrow.

I agree phoenix. As I said in my comment above, if he hits that pass (and once again in response to forbidden, we don't know for sure if Masha hits that pass in that same situation), it puts him in a completely different mental place with all of his throws the rest of the way. Even with his deep ball to Petey right before that 27 yard TD, the receiver had to make a bigtime play on that ball, much like when Summers outmuscled Bethel for the ball in the PC game a couple years back

Unwavering...I wouldnt go that far...Im just saying that at this point, we can talk about it, but unless Josh goes out and sucks the big hairy meatball, any talk of QB competition frankly is better served to be tabled for the next few games and can be revisited come the offseason

1) youre being obtuse
2) Im well aware of the fact that we can say "if this" or "if that" doesnt lend itself to what ACTUALLY happened.
3) One thing I will say is that reading Lang's stuff this morning, as much as Josh struggled yesterday, what I liked is that he owned it. I have a feeling that its going to be fun to see how things go the rest of the year and into spring ball 2014

tbh, he didn't have a choice but to own it, he couldn't place blame elsewhere. Is he gonna blame the OC, lol. Josh, came in this year the undisputed starter and in hindsight it was a good and bad thing. It's also quite obvious that any QB situations will be handles in spring ball and beyond. It will serve him a lot better if he does have some competition next year that will make him better. But even then the one advantage that Josh will still hold is that he will have had actual game experience over Masha. All 3 will have had a year in the playbook, but the on field live bullets, and not practice is something totally different.

Lets hope the boys win out, sit around a tv set in the FOC like its march madness and get that post season call. It will be a fun ride regardless.

your feelings don't matter

Plus we are all jerks and BJ has all the answers. The sooner you understand that the sooner you may possibly be removed from "the list" :)

Did you and postie ever think that maybe if you stopped with all this talk of "the list", and decided not to be so obtuse and then dismiss it because you were "just kidding" or trying to be funny and playing to my supposed lack of a sense of humor, maybe...just maybe...Id like you a lot more?
