What? All that would have done is wasted their final time out. They didn't even have to use it on that last drive. Gill was trying to win the game with one play. We needed to win on that one play, obviously.

We don't suck. Losing like this sucks. Agreed with PK that his hurts more than a lot of the other games. Still an unbelievable performance by our defense. Really impressed with Des Rice, he doesn't go down easily at all!

As much as it hurts, it's in the rearview mirror. Focus on CCU. Week off to get it behind us.

Not much to say when I feel so emotionally drained. I will say the defense played like men tonight. It looked like Kevin was simply gassed on that final TD behind him. Ugh.

Bottom line we were outplayed most of the game. We were fortunate enough to get some turnovers and make just enough plays to stay in the game. But it hurts to get so close and choke once again. We should have had 3 more interceptions for touchdowns, but the reason they are defensive backs is because they can't catch.

Woodrum is not a take charge confident player like the QB's we have played this year either. He is horrible at throwing the long pass and threw a terrible pass on that third down. Unfortunately, we don't have anyone to push him either.

Disagree. ODU never used that last timeout until we had the ball. Although I agree we should have ran the ball, you can't argue that the time wouldn't have been there.
ODU would have had to make a decision if we hadn't made it. Let THEM do that, let's not make it for them. We just has success on a couple of sweep plays and a 1st down wasn't out of the question. Then it would have just been a matter of taking a knee

Yeah, but I can understand why someone wants to hold off on an investment until they can feel more sure about success.

I think they're all from Philadelphia, yepper a bunch of Philly fans here .....

The team played great, just came up a little short. The defensive line was so tired the last 8 mins they couldn't even line up. We just ran out of gas.

The. Had another time out. We get the first down it seals the game. Playing this hypothetical game is pointless and idiotic. If our special teams doesn't give up that td, if we don't drop a td in the endzone, if we pick off the pass before the Odu touchdown...it starts to be an idiotic exercise.

Disagree with the first part. We had a very good defensive strategy against this type of offense. Let them rack up the yards between the 20's and buckle in the red zone. They couldn't run it in. I thought it was a great D game plan

Now on offense, I still like Woodrum. But he doesn't call the plays. And since we have a bye week.......

One other thing, what good is Lunsford's strong leg if he has no accuracy and get's half his kicks blocked. I don't know if it's blocking or he's slow or what but I mean how is that not addressed a year and a half into his career.

But it is an investment. If I'm going to drop a grand, I want a quality product. I'm not sure we have that. I still like Gill and think he's the man for the job, but I'd like to see some other changes.

But those are things we can't necessarily control. We CAN control play calls. We can't always control how they are executed

At the end of the day, the better offense won. Our defense did a great job holding their offense back but needed more relief from our O who needed to make big plays, which we didn't. Looking forward to the takeaways for the next game.

Do you really think it was our defensive strategy to let them rack up yards between the 20's and then not break? Com on my friend, the only reason we played good inside the red zone is because Hieny ran out of room to pass, it was harder for their receivers to get open by 10 yards.

Exactly. That was the game plan. It's what several teams do against offense like this that don't have a running threat

yeah, I don't know how anybody is upset with the D. They played on another level tonight. They held ODU to 21 points. Acutally to 7 points 85% of the way through the game. And then... the dreaded scholarship gap creeps in once again... If the offense does anything tonight, it's a W. If before the game, I said we would put up 17 points, would any of you thought we would have won? No, we would assume it was a blow out. You HAVE to be able to score a lot against teams like these. You can turn it into a grinder all you want but no matter what, they can always go the length of the field in a matter of a minute.

If you're trying to pin this one on Wimbo you're a friggin moron. This was the best defensive game we've played in years. This one's totally on Gill. His unit (special teams) left six points on the board and gave up a touchdown. After Gill, it's on Stahm. How do we only score 17 points against ODU's defense? They played well, but 17? C'mon. It's time we get a real offense.
