Our Defense is pretty terrible. We are starting a ton of freshman to try to get experience for FBS and CUSA next year. Our coach has determined we are going to play the freshman. We just suspended 2 starting linebackers last week. With transfers and RS freshman and true Freshman we have 30 some players that have never played a down at ODU.
You will hate Taylor Heinicke.... but I think you will appreciate his skills.

Just so all you geniuses know: It was 2011 (Pre Gill) the last time LU gave up LU gave up more that 40 pts in a game. Then I had to go all the way back to the 1-10 debacle year that was 2005 to find LU giving up more than 50 (2 times that year to W&M and UConn). haven't found 60 just yet.

I agree BYD but at the same time, we really have not been "destroyed" by anyone in the last seven seasons except the Elon game in 2007. I still think this is an ODU win but Liberty has managed to stay competitive even in games where we have "no shot" over the last six plus seasons and I expect more of the same this weekend. If we take care of the three T's like TG mentioned on Monday night on the Hotline (Turnovers, Tackling and Touchdowns) we certainly have a chance. Even if we do lose like many are predicting (myself included), Liberty is a different breed of FCS team compared to Howard and Albany, and is not going to get "blown out of the stadium" like we were in the Karcher days.

Appreciate the honesty and insight ODUBB. What happened with the LBs, I hadn't heard? Any more details than the standard coach speak?

63-49 ODU
Half 64
I have no feel on this game but ODU at home, big crowd and comfort with scoring in bunches have me give them the nod

My 2nd choice was 28-24 since most games billed as offense shootouts aren't

The Coach never discusses what a kid does to get on suspension or expulsion. The answer is always conduct unbecoming a Monarch.
The coach is fairly strict. They practice at like 5:30am and the have guys that check to make sure they are in each class. They have designated hours to be in the library study area.

Our best running back broke some rule during summer school and was suspended for the year but able to practice.... he apparently recently did something else and was just kicked off the team.

To be fair, Oscar Smith is pretty unbelievable for a high school team! :D

Anybody seen a line for this game? I saw that Lang tweeted that he hadn't found one and I have checked my usual sources and haven't found anything yet. I'd suspect ODU would be somewhere around -16 1/2 or so.

Have been scanning the CSNbbs ODU message board, and those guys are some cool cats. The have really treated al the Liberty folks with respect and courtesy. What a change from most all other fan bases who attack and trash us for being LU fans. Many even hope we join C-USA with them. How cool is that?

I agree, this has been a breath of fresh air. I would love for us to start a long term series with them but the only way that would be possible on a yearly basis would be if we move up, which at this point doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon.

We need to put up points early and often (but on nice long sustained drives) and we have a chance to bring home a signature win.
