Maysonet and Bamiro are monsters...D1 big fish in a smaller pond. We will have our hands full. We are beat up and out manned this game, on paper that is. IMHO, short of any key last minute SB injuries, we win this game under one scenario...TG and company with the game plan of the year.

Essington may be the most underrated QB in FCS - 22TDs and 4 INTs. Last year was no fluke. He was 10-1 as a starter and had outstanding numbers to go with the record. Marcus Coker may be the 2nd best runner in the conference, and hence, the FCS IMO.

Good heavens...some of you are practically fainting at them because their uniforms say Stony Brook.

They are a good team I agree, but they are beatable. They put on their uniforms the same way we do so they arent some supernatural unstoppable force or anything. Nobody told Indiana State that North Dakota State is supposed to roll through to an undefeated season and they arent supposed to win.

I think if we can control the ball and the clock that will bode well for us with the defense coming off the performance they had last week

Interesting. So I guess the main difference is the football being played. If we can somehow game plan to take advantage of our equal footing on uniform dressing, we might just have a shot in the end.

Remember the home field advantage. Our uniforms don't have to be packed and driven 7 hours, meaning they are fresher and less wrinkled on Saturday.

My point is that Stony Brook isnt going to win just because they are Stony Brook and everybody acting like they are quaking in their boots is just plain silly. It only comes down to the football that is played this Saturday, not what happened 3 weeks ago or 3 days ago.

No shaking or quaking here, just realization that THIS YEAR Stony Brook is a much better team than we are. As for uniforms, I say if we can sew their sleeves and pant legs shut, we might have a better chance.

I am as big a fan of "any given Sunday/Saturday" as anybody. I have wateched several of their games on-line. They are a team that is increasing at an increasing rate. We are not at our peak. This pigskin bounces funny ways. We can beat them. Heck, my son plays on this team (not #73 that was my number). I want us to win. But when somebody asks I have to be honest. They've got some talent on that SB team. We are going to have to out hustle them, out coach them, win the turnover game, minimize our penalties, win the big play game and get a good bounce here and there. It's happened before and it will happen again.

What is your honest evalution of our chances?

My honest feeling is that we can win.

AA has shown that he is one of the top backs in this conference (and Im not getting into another debate on AA and SCH like we had in the game thread last Saturday). PK hasnt had the gamebreakers he had when he was a #2 or #3 but he is definitely Woodrum's favorite guy to target. We are going to need him and Dutra and DP to really step their game up. I know that its already been mentioned ad nauseum about getting more involvement for Apon and Justin Gunn (who just missed a highlight reel touchdown last game) so that should help as well.

If we can get more widespread production in the passing game, that can open up the run for AA and SCH which should help us control the ball and keep SB off the field and (as Purple aka captain obvious 2.0 says) score more points than them. If we can keep it in the 20s we have a good chance. If it turns into a track meet like the game up in NY last year, it wont bode well for our chances.

Opposing teams game plan to stop the run. It leaves the passing game pretty much open for the taking.

Pick your poison :D In regards to previous comments, I think if SB turns the ball over 3-4 times, then we can win. Unfortunately we haven't caused an opposing team to turn the ball over in 4 + games :(

We are sooo overdue!!

They're the number six ranked team in the country and we have a new coach but dang it we can beat this team!

Saturday’s game is also the annual Military Appreciation Day event, during which we will honor the branches of the U.S. Armed Forces with a special halftime show. The show will conclude with a B-25 bomber flyover.

Due to our relationship with Lynchburg Nissan and Nissan North America’s partnership with the Heisman Trophy Trust, we will have the Heisman Trophy on display in the main concourse during the game on Saturday.

So what you are saying John Madden is the team to score the most points wins the game? who knew!

No, Captain Smartpants. It's obviously the team who keeps their opponent from scoring more points then they do. Geez, everyone knows defense wins Championships!

I have a buddy on Long Island (about 10 minutes from Stony Brook) and has been living in the stone age with no power or water since last Monday night when the hurricane hit. Maybe our best shot is that they have been camping out and haven't had the best preparation for this one.
