Everything has been said that should be. My only concern right now is that we might well get run of the beach next week.

Play calling as usual was an issue but it does no good to repeat myself for the 2,000th time.

If this doesn't change soon, it's time to talk.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the staff spent the previous week preparing the team for Coastal. I think I said similar things last year about some under-performances before stony brook. It turned out not to be the case.

A W is a W, that is really all that matters right now. We are a very young team, with a new coaching staff and tons of key injuries.

Speaking of injuries, any word on the prognosis of Ferguson (who was injured on the opening kickoff when he got upended)

The more I think about it the more I think ballcoach was right. If Concord had only 1 more player from Gretna they would have won!

Pat Kelly got nailed square in the back early on and was a non-factor after that. Ferguson was on crutches, heard Dutra asking everyone to pray for him on the post-game - sounds serious. Mitch Hanson was hobbled but came back late with a heavily taped ankle. Don't need to lose any linemen, already thin there. I think the Ferguson injury really threw a wrench into the offense for some reason. He has been a big play guy recently.

You can't blame the D for anything. They played well, but were fortunate for the 2 times Concord shot themselves in the foot late.

All in all, good to get the win. That's about all you can say.

We're 3-4 and have won 3 straight. :clapping

Next week, they get to go to the beach and bring the marching band with them.

Any word on Ferguson? At one point he was on sideline with his leg taped up with ice. Kelly did take a hard hit.

I know it feels like the defense didn't play well but it's really not the case. They didn't force any TO's and didn't have manys sacks or TFL but it was the fewest yards allowed by far, and fewest 1st downs. They didn't give up any points themselves. If Pat doesn't fall down and Sassaman can get some air on his kicks we win 21-0 and you don't feel quite as bad as we do now.

Concord was content to allow us to run for 3-6 yards and and keep us from throwing downfield. This in turn chewed the clock up and allowed them to play for our big mistake, which we did twice. I really think the 3rd down playcalling was awful almost the entire game, especially on the 3rd and 5 or less plays. It felt like we ran when we should pass and vice versa, or tried to go east and west when we just needed to punch it between the tackles and pick up 2. They were a sure tackling team, I will say that.

One thing that I dont think has been mentioned is that Sassaman pulled something on the blocked kick when he was pursuing the return. If you notice we played not to kick FG's and pooch kicked the rest of the game and he was limping. Hopefully he's good for next week, and hopefully we get Ayers back as well. I don't think it's good for Ferguson at all.

Open tryouts for kickers on campus? Are we at that point yet?

You could say that every week. We are a mistake prone team. There likely isn't going to be a game this year where we don't make those mistakes. Even in the demolition of Presby, we had the only turnover. It's pointless to discuss what we would have done to Concord without the mistakes, they are part of who we are right now.

I don't know why I subject myself to read the game threads well after the fact. Anyways I will respond without a quote because it's not needed, you know who I'm talking to.

So, let me get this straight, you have not said one word about our athletic program for nearly a year, nothing to say about trying to move to FBS, other than mocking "FBS ready" when struggling earlier in the year. You run a sports blog dedicated to sports where you haven't mentioned your Alma Mater once, but state if they lose to a D2 team it would be front page news on there. As the great philosopher LUConn once stated so eloquently "Liberty fans deserve Liberty athletics." Although in the case the term fan should be in quotes since I think what I just described is the opposite of a fan.

Just curious, do the "negative nellies" that show up on here actually attend games? The 18,643 fans I saw last night seem to have very little in common with them .....

Turn down the amp boss...no need to yell. We do need to create turnover but if the defense is playing well, and forcing punts and turnovers on downs, the offense has to cash in.

While the team put together lack luster uninspiring win, #17 didn't have half the day the Concord coaches had planned on. Kudos to our secondary on keeping him from having a big day.
