Right! That is a terrible prediction to make. God forbid we get blown out by a middle of the road A10 team. We have to do better than last years debacle with them.

16-10 Towson, with 2 missed LU field goals.

you high score guys are crazy. With their best WR out and our style of play, the clock is definately getting run out.

Libertine wrote:How can you say we certainly stand a chance and then turn around and have us losing by 4 touchdowns? It doesn't make sense. Especially, since the final score last year was only 38-17. I would certainly expect to see some improvement on that at least.
Because, like I said, every team participating in an athletic competition stands a chance on any given day. There's always a chance. I have a sneaking suspicion that after the two cupcakes, we're not going to completely show up for this road game. It's just a hunch, but I'm going with it this time. That's all. I would LOVE to be wrong.

I disagree with you El Scorcho. The amount of intensity I have seen in these players and coaches these last two games is unmatched to any other Liberty athletic team I've ever seen. They are focused, and determined to compete to the best of their ability. Even in the 2nd half on Saturday after the game was basically over, the players were getting excited over big hits, and stuffing their run, etc. I think they will be ready to play on Saturday. They have been looking forward to this since Rocco was named coach. I'm not saying we won't win, but we will show up. I can guarantee that.

I remember a couple of hoops teams (Men's and Women's) in March that were pretty focused but I get your gist
I too think this team will be well prepared because of all the momentum and what is at stake. They would hate to lose this emotional high they are on and really I think they are looking at this game as their first game. I think they will approach this as their "something to prove" game and will play motivated. Most of that goes out of the window once you get into the game but it should help them get off to a decent start. I suspect the Defense will continue to play well and make plays. The key is to limit big plays by getting fooled by play action trying to lend run defense support. Also if they can get to the QB a few times that would be nice. Offensively the ball control game should work well but I expect to see a few shots taken down field. If you can convert a few of those shots you take, and keep the offense on the field for long stretches, Liberty can win the game.

As mentioned before- I'm not making on the record  official predictions this year- but I think you could almost consider THIS game our season opener. At the very least, it IS our D I opener- and I'd be willing to bet a paycheck or 2 that the guys and Coach are DEAD serious about showing up hungry.

Execution, thats another thing- Any Given Saturday. And its always possible to play your heart our, but get beat handily by a superior team. I don't think thats the case with this game. JMHO

Yea, its not like Towson is a 1AA superpower anyway. They are in a very tough conference and yes they did beat some pretty respectable teams last year (including Delaware) but I do not consider them in the 1AA elite as of right now. In other words I don't think they are in the same class as App State, Furman, GA Southern, Delaware, McNeese, Montana, and all the other 1AA elite teams. We just have to stay focused and motivated. There is no reason at all that we can't, at the very least, give them a highly competitive game.
