[edit] Pamedic types too fast for me, I didn't see his post when I posted this....continue on :)

I'm starting to agree more with SJ. :?

I don't think we'll be ranked at that point. If we were to lose to Wake, but somehow beat W&M, at 5-1, we then might be in the top 25.

Back in years like 95, 96, and 97, I think we would get ranked in the top 25 early with some D-2 wins, and a 1-AA win, but I've come to think that was because there weren't as many 1-AA teams around at the time.

I still like the schedule for this year...we need to get some wins early.

A good showing against Wake, winning two of the 3 games again Bill and Mary, Coastal, and WCU while playing the other close, and we might crack the top 25. Our first four games don't help us at all in the rankings. However, they help us out tremendously in getting better as a team and learning how to win.

Ok this is just me, so take it for what it is worth. On next year's schedule can we play "state" teams that are actually states?? I mean I have torn UP my road atlas looking for Savanah and Glenville!!!! What side were they on in the War?

Jim, you can't compare anything in 2006 to back in the 90's. There are so many more teams in I-AA now than there were back then. The comparisons are completely shot.

SJ,

I'm agreeing with you, look at my post, I said, "Back in years like 95, 96, and 97, I think we would get ranked in the top 25 early with some D-2 wins, and a 1-AA win, but I've come to think that was because there weren't as many 1-AA teams around at the time."

I was pointing out that I used to compare it, but it doesn't work because there are more 1-AA schools now...that's what I said.

Well, the right side was composed of Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. Therefore, they must have been for the evil north and God punished those states by wiping out everything but their schools, which got relocated to other states.

i live in florida and have lived up north as well and really the only people that still care about this north/south crap are people from northern florida to virginia....the rest of the country could care less.....

I don't think we need to reset the winning vs. losing side in the football forum.

And the reason we would get those early rankings back then is because we had developed a bit of a reputation for winning. Unfortunately we'll now be fighting the stereotype for awhile. But one great season can change the perception fairly quickly.

Two DII's, the worst I-AA in the country, and a decent I-AA. We won't be ranked.
Again - I'm confident, if we run our first 4 games - WE WILL BE RANKED. If we go 4-0 and we are not in the top 25 for 1AA I will send you a Liberty Sweatshirt, if we are - you have to write a 100 word post on how you were wrong and how Prototype knows everything.

Deal?

I bet that if we go 4-0 we will get votes for the top 25. I f we beat W & M we will be ranked no matter how we fare vs Wake. Right now too early to tell if that is a possibility or not.

That's fine with me. I agree with Stevev. We may get votes but we won't be ranked. It's a deal.

I'm gonna agree w/ SJ and Steve...we'll get votes, but I doubt we'll be ranked...unless the top schools have a horrible start to their season, then we might be ranked #25

I will say that the jury is still out on the football team in my eyes.

When you pull out of two I-A games at the last minute, it's hard to find I-AA replacements. That's why Liberty ended up with St. Paul's and Glenville State.

My hope is that we are one of the few undefeated teams at 4-0. With a lot of 1AA playing Division 1A teams - there will be some drop from the 15 down. It's a gamble, but I think it's a good one.

Anyway, I have this old Sweatshirt I haven't wore in like 7 years - it's got that old Flaming ball logo on it and it says Pround parent of a Liberty Softball Player.

If it would fit (doubt it) I'd rather have the old one. We have to get to 4-0 first. Honestly, this is a win-win situation for both of us.

Glenville State lost to Johnson Smith 23-20 yesterday. Johnson Smith I believe is in St Paul's conference. Not sure how good they are though.

J.C. Smith was picked to finish last in the CIAA's West Division ... and that game was at GSC, I believe.
