I got excited at he 4-3, the recruiting in texas, fla and ga, and just can't wait to see how the next few months pan out.

I also thought it was interesting that "any schmoe" could ask questions

Hmm when Jerry said he thinks there will be a snowball effect once we move to FBS does he have any particular donors in mind?

I'd imagine he knows a lot that we don't at this point as far as our move up. To me, the feasibility study sounded more like a formality rather than a "what if" study.

The study is a formality at this point. You could see in Jr's closing comment that he's thinking bigger picture and the business side of things. He made sure to mention that we're as ready as anyone has ever been and that he believes whomever gets us will get an asset immediately beyond just what we have right now. He already sees the day when we're a national player at the FBS level. I love it!

This public announcement was to just keep the order of things... You can tell they have a plan that they're methodically working through. LU is in great hands.

If we move up to say the sunbelt then that conference would have Turner Gill and Gus Malzhan as two of its coaches. Who would have predicted that two years ago?

I'd really love the MAC or C-USA. I think geographically we'd be a pretty good fit for the MAC and it would help us expand our brand through the northeast where we could gain a lot of exposure in an area that may not be familiar with our program as of yet.

my favorite was the student (im gonna guess RA as their the only ones still on campus) who asked about personal conduct and "holiness" off the field. she also pointed the question slightly at barber which to me came across at a veiled reference to the asa chapman situation.

definitely a Chapman ref and Gill sorta dodged it, to be honest

I believe the quote was "we're not gonna beat them over the head with it"

RAs are the only ones who talk like that.

I'm honestly surprised that February/March was stated publicly as the time to start pitching LU to FBS conferences. If they're making comments that are even that detailed, the process must be pretty far along. Maybe Montana does play the return game with us as our FCS opponent on an FBS schedule.

I've gotta admit I am a little disappointed we did not announce phase 2 of the stadium expansion but that will happen soon enough I guess...

Come on, admit it that when Coach Gill mentioned recruiting in Texas you all thought of me.

Very nice opening news conference. Very short, sweet and to the point. Now it is time to get moving on the business at hand.

Probably during the press conference where we announce which FBS conference accepted us.

Bingo! If we are invited to an FBS league, that will likely be a part of the package. Then again, we could need it sooner if the buzz from Coach Gill generates more fan interest.

Yes but construction realities mean that it won't be this season. Maybe between 2012-2013.

That will happen when we fill phase 1. We've never sold out and even if we did we have room on the grass for overflow.

It looks better to have a full 20k seat stadium then a stadium for 30k with 20k in it. I'd expect the next expansion to coincide with a move up but not before and I'm def ok with this.

We had a few games (Presby) where we didn't have 5k left at the end of the game.

I'm going with C-USA. Better teams, broader geographical reach, which means more area for the brand to expand. I'd much rather go west for recruiting than the northeast, IMO.

Even if they announced the phase 2 expansion it wouldn't start till after next season probably. They like to get it all done between seasons like they did the first phase. So they have almost a yr to announce it, if they want to complete it after next season.

Hopefully that will be the case. I know personally I have been trying to drag one of my co-workers to a LU football game forever and he wouldn't come. When he heard Gil had been hired he text me asking for tickets, here's hoping that attitude catches on!

I could see them breaking ground this spring on phase 2 in an effort to be done by fall, especially if we get positive feedback and interest from FBS conferences and things keep moving up for us between now and then.
