I'm torn on Gill. I could get behind it, but then again his overall head coaching record is pretty weak, but as mentioned it was at Buffalo & Kansas. He would be a name hire and also a young, energetic guy who could buy into our mission. I think we could definitely do worse.

Gill would be a home run IMHO.
Plus, he is a handsome dude!
As for Bowden, I'm worried about his credit rating. He had some sketchy charges at some cat emporium :dontgetit

Solid FCA guy - would do well recruiting like-minded athletes IMHO. Great guy who has done more with little. He would walk in to a program here with more tailwind than he has ever had.

Go Flames!

I think he would be just what we need. High Div I experience, name recognition (which would help with recruits), Solid from a personal standpoint too.

For the record, if it cant be you then I want it to be TG

Beej, I'm torn with this one...I feel like I have a slight conflict of interest with getting your resume together for this one. On one hand I'd feel like a coach who hired his son as an assistant...on the other I know what you bring to the table. I'm going to need a few more days to come to a final decision.

Already addressed that HMO...

I determine what you're interested in and not interested in....you need to take the Agent/Client relationship class again....I believe this is the theory that Purple taught.

I have to pursue every "good fit" opening with the sense of petal to the metal....then I get you an offer and its yours to accept or turn down.

Turner Gill would be incredible hire. He was really building something at Buffalo. The starting quarterback at Cal was a Gil recruit to Buffalo. His Buffalo teams would have kept winning for sure.

SMU perhaps but I doubt it at UH. And that of course implies that there would be openings at both schools. At this point one looks more likely than the other.

who you got?
I have always liked Kansas basketball. Not love, but I've always followed them, but I do remember the year Kansas had a one year wonder. Turner Gill won the MAC division. Even with crappy players that's not hard to do. A 8 win season in the MAC? Wow what an accomplishment. Especially when you are playing the brutal likes of Eastern Michigan ever Saturday. Or even worse... Kent State.
This is just straight up wrong. It doesn't matter what conference Buffalo is in, to take a consistent loser like Buffalo and have a 8 win season is impressive. Anyone in the college football business would tell you the same. TG's time at KU is very confusing, but I still think he could be a great pick up for us. Especially if we are seriously considering moving up to I-A.

An 8 win season in the MAC could be EXACTLY what we're trying to achieve depending on how things shake out.

I didn't even think of it that way, but well said.

I would not be surprised if Coach Gill takes some time with any career decison. He has $6M still coming from KU, with $4M already paid to him for the last two seasons. Also, in my opinion, he is still a young head coach with some, but limited success. Also with his last two years at KU being, regardless of reason, a disaster for him it may be hard for the LU players to get behind this Coach given these circumstances including, as mentioned, his short but climbing success at Buffalo which took a few seasons to realize!

But if he's our coach, he's our coach.
He's got the name. He's been in the Big 12 and MAC. Both places we'd like to be. He has LU contacts (Robert Wimberly). He's been in the Northeast (Buffalo). It's hard to ignore his success at Buffalo. He's an outspoken Christian. He would bring a lot of excitement to the program.

If Danny Rocco can recruit to LU, Turner Gill can. No offense to Rocco.

heres the way i see it.

If your a kid who hasn't heard of liberty but you follow college football. You know who Turner Gill is and you listen if he calls. If you get him on campus and your competing against lower level FBS and CAA teams you get the kid with Turner Gill's name and the facilities, especially if the kid is christian

Same scenario but DR calls, they dont know who he is and aren't nearly as high on coming to visit and giving us a chance.

Also I think he can coach more than people are giving him credit for. Obviously time will tell but I really liked what he was doing at Buffalo and well KS just about everything that could go wrong did. Everyone involved knew it was going to be a process and obviously one the new AD at KS wasn't willing to wait out.
