Should be a good game. Norman jammed his thumb and was in a cast for most of the last game. He took it off in the first half and picked off a pass, then the trainer made him put it back on.
Sorry Norman is injured. But maybe with a cast on his thumb he'll have a some difficulty putting a horse-collar on Summers this year.

Coastal might win Saturday, but no way their schedule has been better at all. Furman is decent (very average) and I think A&T has the right guy as coach but I've seen them play this year and they've got a long way to go. They're not very good. I understand the frustration of not being able to get over the hump and win these games but LU's three losses: to N.C. State in a game that could have gone the other way had it not been for turnovers (I don't care how down the Wolfpack is right now, they're still bowl division); by a field goal to JMU, which has been ranked in the top 10 and by three points at Lehigh to a team now in the top 10.

Unfortunately, the polls tend to reflect sheer W-L records rather than factor in schedule quality. Fortunately, the polls don't matter. Winning the Big South is all that matters at this point.

Is that what causes 6 catches for 47yds before a meaningless stat padding td at the end?

I hope Coastal loads up on Chris. That will make it that much easier for MB, Pat Kelly, BJ Hayes, Ervin, Tommy Shaver.

I'm not worried about our offense, we'll get our points. Not to sound like Beej but...

Since Rocco has been here:
we've averaged 39 points a game against Coastal.
we've scored at least 30 points in 23 out of 26 conference games
we've averaged in 44.7 points a game in home conference games

I think the two "very close" loses to "top ranked" non-conference teams has us ready for this one. Coastal's ranked and we're not. I look for the team to come out with a chip on their shoulder. Play a wide open offensive game and a hard hitting defensive game. IM looking forward to it! :football

Wait?! Coastal is ranked? There go our chances. Im sure some statistician can find our record against ranked opponents.

you guys just better all be there for the first playoff game(which we better make) because it will be the only game i'll be able to make this year.

As for coastal I can't wait for the annual twitter #beatcoastal roast. maybe chauncy will try to e-fight me again.
This IS the first playoff game or at least the mindset we need to take.

According to what I could find (and this goes back through the whole of the Division I era) we are 7-35 against ranked teams (2 of those wins within the last 5 years) but never has a Big South team come into Williams Stadium ranked (and also remember that Liberty has not lost a Big South home game since November 2006...I think CSU was getting votes but wasnt ranked by any of the major polls when we beat them up in 2006).

Game will be on ESPN 3.

Which goes to prove the old adage. There are 3 types of lies. Lies, dang lies, and statistics." :D

Do we take solace in the fact this is the first time we have played a ranked BSC team at home?
Do we look at it as "The 3rd times a charm" or "3 strikes you are out" with ranked team this year.
Do we tremble at our 20% winning percent against ranked teams?
Of course if we have lost owe last 4 games against ranked teams, then this will be a shoe in!

I see it more as "something's gotta give". You have on one hand, Liberty struggles against ranked opponents, but on the other hand, you have that Liberty dominates against conference opponents at home (including summary curbstompings of CCU their last two trips up to Lynchburg). If the Liberty that struggles against ranked opponents shows up Saturday, then it could go CCU's way. If the Liberty that has pounded Big South opponents at home (including scoring 30 or more 11 straight games and 50 or more five of those games) shows up on Saturday, then we can take solace in the fact that we kicked a ranked team's *** on our home field.
