Does anyone know any hard quotes on what the financial cost's might be to put together a bus trip as some people on this thread have been talking about?
I'm in Northern Utah, a Liberty Alum, and a huge Liberty Flames fan! I usually just read the threads daily but don't post much.
I am currently looking into flights to hopefully attend the Stony Brook game on Long Island. It's also a great trip to get away to NYC. But I am stoked about the prospects of this game and of hopefully Liberty securing a playoff spot for the first time!
Maybe I can put some money down for some die hard Flame Fans students to attend the Stony Brook game if they had the strong desire to go because they are die hards but did not have the resources to do so. I remember well being a college student and it kills me to know that there are Flames fans out there like a drumnColby757 that wants to go but are unable to etc.
I've been dying to see Liberty Football finally make it into the playoff's and am watching the playoff projections daily to see if I can make or and attend those games in Round # 1, Round # 2 etc. If any of you are Flame Fans currently attending LU [please don't take it the wrong way], but don't take for granted the amazing things which are happening at LU (NOW) with the atheletic teams which some of us have only dreamed would be happening (in the past tense). Some of it is truly surreal. Now's the time to show support, and attend what some of us have been wanting to happen for a very long time!

Just spoke with the Brown family. It appears we may have a donor helping out on the bus. If this happens the price will be approx $75. As of now I am not sure if that includes the game ticket. Hopefully we will have more info later today.

Any Interest?

How I wish we had an airport. It's sad when I'm jeolous of Roanoke's connections. Or an interstate for that matter isn't 29 suposed to upgrade sometime in the next 50 years?

Where would you be flying into up there? You can add on a significant chunk of change for ground transportation.

Southwest flies into Islip. It is about 10 miles from Stony Brook. A taxi ride should not be too bad.

If someone is subsidizing the bus trip and it is only $75.00, students and Lynchburg locals should jump on this.

Southwest now flies into about every airport up there based on their recent acquisitions. I was just curious which airport had the $160 rate. If it is Islip, that's a heckuva deal.

Sly, last flight back out is 3:25 PM so you would have to include a hotel night

I'm not sure of who the students you know of are, but as a student I'm certainly not able to spend $75 for a day. Myself and a lot of other students I know would love to go to this game, but $75 for a broke college student is a fortune for just one saturday...

You can't afford $75 for one away game?

Obviously it's not a priority which is fine just don't act like you couldn't do it if you really wanted.

You know what you're right, I could probably go if I sold my psychology book, and wanted to have a 10.00 balance in my bank account right before Thanksgiving break. But the fact of the matter is for the average student 75 bucks is a lot of money. And no this game isn't a huge priority, but it is possibly the biggest game since i've been at Liberty and I truly would love to go. All I'm saying is don't expect a whole lot of students "jumping" on this opportunity.

Rather pointless argument about priorities vs. poverty IMHO. Everyone's situation is different. There are without a doubt many students who actually can't afford $75, but I wouldn't call that "average". The vast majority could do it................................ if it is a priority for them.

Im expressing my personal situation but there are some people who cant even put down $75 because they may have had something similar happen (unexpected car repair or medical bill or something)

I think $75 sounds like a very fair price. Count me in on trip #3 to Stony Brook: we drive past the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building and go over the Brooklyn Bridge in route to Long Island. An LU tour bus is the best way to see NYC in route to Long Island. We even saw Times Square on the way back last time!

The bus has been reserved. The price DOES NOT include the game ticket you will need to get your tickets through the LU ticket office. If we can fill the bus it appears that the price will be approx $75 per person Still working out the details such as departure time, food etc...You can call Mike @ 434 531 4724 or email me at bobbycrick@gmail.com to reserve your spot.. We will need a firm commitment from everyone. Mike is paying the deposit out of pocket so please only those who are 100% sure that they are going sign up

I would have killed for a trip like this when I was a student. Pack the bus and support the Flames! Maybe somebody with the right connections will catch wind of this and be able to offer even more support so that it might be within reach for students.
