The idea of a whiteout in itself I personally believe is not very original. I talked to Allen Sparks and a couple other folks in marketing about doing a Doc's Day, where everyone wears a white shirt and red-red/blue tie (or a colored in tie). They said it was a great idea, but they are trying to focus our student body on wearing red all the time. Our students still have to be told to wear red. It's not second nature yet, and until it is, something like this will not be welcomed... at all.

Doc's Day would be a great idea! It is really original, and I really feel that the students would buy into it.

How about this...

What about creating something like "The Shirt"? You know, something like Notre Dame has. If you don't know, Notre Dame releases what they call "The Shirt" every year before the season starts. What if we were to start doing something like this, but in all red? For the first year, give them to the students for free, then after that start selling them. If no one buys them, then give them out. Students will be wearing red, and everyone will be happy.

If you haven't seen Notre Dame's "The Shirt," check them out on google images or something.

Give this guy a break. He's just trying to get something going.

To the OP: A bunch of us have been around for a long time and have seen the campus go from a place where gear from other schools was far more common that LU red. That is finally starting to change. No, it's not as fast as a lot of us would like, but it is getting there. Some people are just concerned that when you start mixing in promotions that call for other colors, it will confuse the fans that are just now starting to notice Liberty football's existence in Lynchburg.

I will say that a student side white, home side red deal might look cool, but you have to get the word out a LONG time in advance for that to work...or hand out tshirts (not while LU has the ball).

LUallTHEway wrote:I do work in the athletic department...I love our theme, "Be early. Be loud. Wear Red"...Wouldn't it be sweet if the Baptist side and the student side were all decked out in white?
Before starting your post, you might have wanted to ask your bosses--JB or BG--what they thought of the idea.
:dontgetit What part of "Wear Red" don't you understand?
And to answer your question directly, NO!

We did the Doc's day back in 07. Granted that was the fall right after he passed but I though we had great student participation. I'm not sure it would be as wide spread this year since nobody on campus now was there when doc was. (you know other than BJ  ). Until we can get everyone to wear red lets not worry about trying to change it up.

A. Then how do you work for Athletics
B. it was Savannah State
C. Really?
D. Based on this comment I'm done listening to you
E. I still don't see how telling the students to wear white can get them to be more into the game and stay longer.
F. you FAIL!
G. OH yea, 10 or 15 years from now when we actually convince all the hold outs to wear red, we will not have to say it as much and then we can try a white out.

BE Early! Be LOUD! Wear RED!!!

Then you are an idiot :P

You will be hated on worse than the worker who predicted JMU to win last year, and more than the girl who wore VT gear to work the year before that.

Very shortsighted. Very poor. Better hope they don't find out who you are.

Nice but No because my Bro-in-law left the band, then they moved to Nashville and became indigo orphan, then became Sailor something or other, then the band died, then the singer and guitarist split up. Wow! thanks for making me relive the depression. haha.

I'm guessing you aren't real open to JB, KK, BG or anyone else in Athletic Administration knowing who you are - are you? My guess is that you wouldn't tell administration you were announcing this in an official meeting about the GW game. Correct? Then why would you bring it on here? The worse problem in marketing sports are the mixed messages - people who think they are high enough to make decisions like this - even though they go completely against the overall direction of a marketing theme. There are far to few of games to do a WHITEOUT... LU is trying to get everyone to wear RED and build tradition. WHITEOUTS are for basketball where you have 20 home games and your trying to mix it up or even test how effective your internal marketing effort is.

To come on here and declare a personal whiteout only makes it look like LU fans are scattered when a few people do it. If you want to wear white - go tablegating at BWW and let's fill the stands with Red.

You wanna know how serious they are about everyone wearing red...Im in the marching band and we got (pardon the term) crucified on here because the band wore blue shirts that made us look similar to Coastal Carolina. The band had to order all new shirts (in red of course) for the next home game. Now the band shirt is always red to fit in with the fact that everyone needs to wear RED and ONLY red in the stands

Working on the janitorial staff that cleans the athletics offices does not equate to working for the athletic department. Just because you take out the trash for JB is not the same as being a part of the AD staff. Next time, leave a note on his desk with your suggestion.

"So who is the moron that apparently works for us, and has no future in this business, that is self-promoting a whiteout for the GW game?"

I got that text message this morning and laughed my butt off.

For the sake of this tool, I hope no one finds out who he is or he may not have a job.

Let's find out his name and post it;)

And then we can add it to the resume!

Keep in mind guys while this board is one of the most accurate boards I've ever seen when it comes to information BUT nothing is stopping ANYONE from getting on here and posting they they are the Athletic Director. So just because someone gets on here and says they are from the AD doesnt mean they are. In fact I highly doubt they still are simply because the steps of privacy that our AD takes in making sure what happens in house stays in house. It doesnt take long to find those going against what your trying to do in that type of environment.

We do have the ability to trace IP address's on this board though, so if something is announced and Schorchy or someone finds out that its false...they can and have announced that they are indeed lying.

The AD should have a public Witch Hunt. Done the same way as the old days. Boulder, Lake, Sink/Swim. I'm convinced this is a 2nd username of someone we know.......NPRETTY! We'll throw you in the water first.

Also could come from something related to soccer...not the staff, but someone who knows about that whole botched Whiteout deal.
