I think the unis for 06 are a huge improvement. I'm not a fan of the "bat wing" stripes on the helmet even though I know it's the fad. I actually think we have a logo and helmet that can acually get away with "bat wing" stripes. They look awful on UVA's helmets I think (no offense to smoothie). If I had my pick I would go for a single red center stripe like Ole Miss. I think that would pick up nicely with the single red collor and cuffs on the jerseys. As for color combos I say blue tops and white pants at home, white tops and white bottoms on the road. I like all white - it's tough. I like the idea of a simple and recognizable look - keep it simple.

That said - what happened to the old "world league" unis from last year. I think one of those jerseys would look great framed in the sports room!

I actually like the dos dagger stripes on the helmet.

I like the blue tops with white pants (even without a stripe) for home.

I can't get on board with all white for away; I'd rather see white tops with blue or red bottoms, preferably blue, and an alternate combo of red top with blue pants.

They've got to solve the riddle of the helmet graphic, it is the only "blemish" on the otherwise superb looking unis. I think the unis have a clean, crisp and very playoff worthy appearance (one can hope, right.)

Though this is a sidebar not related to football, but helmets, does the Hockey goalie have one of those custom artwork helmet/masks that are popular in the NHL (and subsequently some MLB catchers.) If so, what does it look like, what images does he have blended together?

the new logo is a hit Parker, why wouldn't we just have Proto design the alternate? I'm sure they came up with more than a few others when creating the current one. As for what's on the helmet, it's tough to see it because it's much like the logo that was on the field last year. It's all white. Now if they did the logo with the white outline/background it might look fine. Really I just think they should go blue helmet with a white number.

So many teams don't have their logo on the helmet. Ohio St., Michigan, Penn State, Syracuse. You don't have to have a logo. There are a lot of things they can do. Some schools go with the Big Letter like Tenn or Michigan St. Some go with the mascot like USC or you could go with your nickname in fancy letters like the Terps. Personally if they came up with a logo that looked like the one at mid-field it would look great. Just add in white background.

Alright, anyone with a decent graphics program (I don't have one loaded on my setup at the moment) can manipulate the placement of the following logo so that it contours to the helmet, but something akin to this would be much better than the white version with the lettering used on the brain buckets at present, IMO.

Any chance we get a red alternate in the same templates as the navy and white? It'd be nice to have them for big games or special occasions (homecoming, ranked teams coming in, etc). It'd also be a good way to have a "red-out" promotion.

I think a red alternate jersey would be cool for the reasons SJ mentioned.
As far as t-shirts, here's a red background with the "top of the field logo" for a "Red Zone" or "Red Out" (whatever they call it.)

The alternate uni's are pushed at other schools because they give people a chance to see new uniforms, which makes them want to log on to ebay and buy one. It's too bad the marketing guys don't even push the blue or white jerseys stores more. (Do we even have marketing guys?)

Wow, Manger, that was a complete homer statement. Don't say things if you don't know them.

We have marketing people. Do we do promotions during games? No, and that's something I've been critical of. However, the way things are now with the marketing people is a ton better than the way it used to be.

As to whining about basketball not getting the same as football, there's a simple reason for that. There are 6 home football games. Six. One more than five. There are roughly 12-13 home games (guessing, not looking at the schedule). It's simply not affordable to put money into games against Southern Virginia and Cinci Christian and those guys. That would be simply stupid. Conference games or games against better opponents will have more marketing with them.

Football is also the sport that draws the most people. We have 10-13,000 people at football games. We haven't broke 1000 yet at basketball (unless we did last night). You put money where you're going to get the biggest return.

Right now, the women's team deserves more marketing than the men's. They've played amazing and deserve more people at their games than they are getting.

It's the way the sports world works. People come spend their money (in case of students, time) on a winning product. There are few true Liberty sports lovers (although, we do have the Super #1 Fan who bleeds Liberty) who will support the team no matter what (hence what this board is for..).

Look at what winning did for the football team this year.

by the way, the reason they had so many fans at the football games Is because of promoting. they made the students feel like they should be at the games. i don't see why we just make a 30 sec announcement about a men's or womens bball game. and i agree, the women do deserve more. i wasn't arguing against that.

It is long overdue to having winning Football at LU! These are exciting times. I believe the dream of a NCAA D1 Fooball power will come true within 10 years. This will include trips to the Orange Bowl and the Cotton Bowl and so on. The great things are coming in the direction of LU Football.
