For the love of everything that is good and holy, DO NOT USE THOSE STUPID HORNS AT LU.

That is all.

I don't know 3 people that ENJOYED hearing those horns during the World Cup. Why do you think British TV took the crowd noise off their broadcasts? I think those horns should be BANNED! The Florida Marlins tried a promotion after the World Cup with those horns which failed miserably. The more natural noise of chants/songs by the students is much more enjoyable than any stinking artificial noisemaker. Somebody, please kill this thing before it starts.

I know my opinion has little weight on what people decide to do, but seriously!!? those horns made the world cup unwatchable...

I have no problem with thundersticks or even cow bells, but those horns need to be out of the equation...please for the love of LU sports, do not sell those things to anybody

with that said why aren't thundersticks considered an artificial noisemaker? I figured since we have used those that the artificial noisemaker rule was thrown out by the big south

Thank the lord this will not be allowed.

seriously, they are like nails on a chalk board....I respect the hustle Noise but maybe some smaller megaphone type thing....something to encourage using your voice to be loud.

I agree with the mini-megaphone thing. Go with that instead.

I understand capitalism and all (you could make a decent amount of money off of this), but you will be killing what has become a great college football atmosphere at LU.

Thats brilliant Lukon.

On the flip side....this might sell the remaining skybox's to keep from having to hear this mess.

wow. didnt expect that negative a result. im getting one and im only using it on 3rd downs/defense. and to maybe make the opposing coach go deaf since we sit front row on the 40 right behind the opposing teams bench.

i think itll be in limited numbers and we can actually be smart about it.
it will work. football is not soccer. there are times to be loud and times not to be loud. we know this.
i think theyll give it a real chance, and if we're not stupid, it will work. if we blow them during offense it will be banned the next game by jeff barber, methinks.

No. The general population will just blow them randomly and ruin a good atmosphere.

Back in '97 or '98, Jefferson Builders did some crazy sponsor deal where you got a plastic hard hat and an inflatable squeaky hammer (about 3 feet long) at the first game. Every game you went to after that, you got a sticker for the helmet. Needless to say, after the first play of the first game, a gigantic hammer fight broke out in the stands and lasted until all of them had popped some time in the 4th quarter. I think I still have welts from that game and the squeaking noise haunts me in my sleep...and I have no idea if we won or lost that game because of it.

Stick to the stuff that is working and leave the vuvuzellas at home.

random alert:
Another promotion gone bad involved a round seat cushion give-away (perfect for the frisbee toss). After the first touchdown, about 5,000 of them ended up on or beyond the visitor's bench. One of the opposing players was cut under his eye from the plastic edge and just about got arrested for trying to get into the stands.

Also just to let everyone know this that aren't on campus.

I'm not the only one selling the Vuvuzela on the Liberty campus.

I'm selling them for 5$ they are selling for 10$
I'm not in this for a profit but to unite the student body with something fun to do and feel apart of the action.

For the people that suggested a mini mega phone, this is done every year and people don't use them to their full potential, And after the game a ton are left at the stadium being picked up by facilities.

Even if you bash this post all day and say how much you hate the Vuvuzela sound.
It's going to be at the game, if it's my Vuvuzelas the students will have them.

Will it be thousands? No maybe 2 to 4 hundred.

So keep saying how much you hate this and how much you don't want the Vuvuzela in the stands.
The students will do what they want and what they think is fun and entertaining.

So I wish everyone the best and hope no matter what happens in the student sections at LU. That they will come out to the football games and support their Liberty Flames. This year is the year that we will finish what we have started.

I think the cow bells would be cool but the vuvuzellas would just cause trouble. Kids would toot them constantly and then we are back to the Bee Squadron.

Just an FYI to all those who can't wait to buy their vuvuzela. If you or your loved one feels the need to purchase said noise maker please also feel the need to sit on the student side of the stands. As I can assure you I will be sitting on the press box side and if you happen to be lucky enough to be sitting near me be assured that I will feel the need to introduce myself which in and of itself would be great for you (I’m really a swell guy if I do say so myself) however I fear that their is a high probability that your vuvuzela would not make it out of our first encounter being able to produce its lovely buzzing droll. Have an great day

are you intimating that said instrument would likely produce a different sound when inserted rectally?

The last thing anyone would want to do is annoy an old ignorant Baptist and his goodwill-pastel-dress-wearing wife.

I for one, hate these things. But you'll never see me tell someone what they can/cannot do at a football game.
