Usually this is where I would console myself by saying, "Hey, at least it's basketball season," but that doesn't help this year.
There's the hockey team that's doing great. :D

Thanks LUconn...I looked at the stats as soon as the game was over and we have our top 5 rushers (Allen, Mike Brown, Holloway, BJ Hayes, Danny Broggin) our second leading passer (Mike Brown), and 5 of our top 6 receivers (Mike Brown, Chris Summers, Jimmy Eden, Aldreakis Allen, BJ Hayes) all coming back next year. So as much disappointment as there may be for how this year ended, the future (and this fan's fire) is certainly bright

Our poor first half D finally showed against a team we couldn't manhandle in the second half. Adjustments always seem to work, but this time we played a better team than we have in the last several weeks. I think co-champs is kind of a joke, as well.
You were right? Is that what you wanna hear, shuk jr.?

You've been a pessimist for weeks. You were dead wrong last week with your G-W "make some real predictions" garbage.
You forgot to tell him he was right, so I will.

rogers, you were right.

I'm not into the sharing thing either. In my mind, they are the Big South Champs this year.

blame it on the defense, it wasn't Beecher's fault, I hate how Beecher % went from 69-63 on the last drive the he was forced to take, along with the chicken finger int. he took the hit b/c he couldn't get protected for what 2 secs.

To be honest I cant be ticked off...am I disappointed? Oh yeah most definitely...but I also look at what we have coming back and we have two true freshman RBs who have shown they can make big plays, a do everything player who very well could get on the national radar and almost our entire starting receiving corps. Im looking forward not looking back and I cant wait to see what we are going to do next fall.

Guys, I can understand being disappointed in the results today but Im trying to get you guys forward thinking here. Look at the starting lineup for this game today:

LIBERTY OFFENSE
WR - Freddie Brown (6-3, 210, Sr.)
LT - Josh Weaver (6-4, 285, Sr.)
LG - Bryan Mosier (6-2, 300, Sr.)
C - Mario Cosby (6-1, 270, Sr.)
RG - Alex Stadler (6-5, 310, Jr.) coming back
RT - Justin Vargas (6-5, 285, Jr.) coming back
WR - Mike Brown (6-0, 195, So.) coming back
TE - Will Quarles (6-2, 250, Sr.)
FB - Derek Bishop (5-10, 225, Sr.)
TB - Aldreakis Allen (6-0, 225, Fr.) coming back
QB - Tommy Beecher (6-2, 227, Sr.)
K - Matt Bevins (6-2, 185, So.) coming back

LIBERTY DEFENSE
LE - Daryl Robertson (6-3, 285, Jr.) coming back
NG - Asa Chapman (6-5, 377, So.) coming back
RE - Trey Jacobs (6-3, 280, Sr.) OR Terry Adams (6-1, 235, Jr.) coming back
SLB - Ian Childress (6-4, 225, Sr.)
MLB - Doncel Bolt (6-3, 230, Jr.) coming back
JLB - Chad Brown (6-2, 230, Jr.) coming back
WLB - Wes Cheek (6-0, 205, Sr.)
LCB - Donald Manns (5-10, 180, Sr.)
LS - Chris Rocco (5-10, 200, Sr.)
RS - Larry Claiborne (6-1, 180, So.) coming back
RCB - Tim Torrence (5-8, 165, Sr.)
P - Mike Larsson (5-10, 170, So.) coming back

11 of the guys on here are coming back. Im already moving on because I know what we have coming down the pike. we lost to a good team today, but unlike Coastal we have many of our important cogs returning next year. Not to mention, a quick look at the roster and we have more than three times the number of freshman, sophomores and redshirt freshman and sophomores than we have seniors and redshirt seniors. We're gonna be back...and Stony Brook better be ready for when they come to our house.

There is a lot of frustration here, but after things settle down, we'll be able to look at the positives from this year. With the exception of the seniors that won't play another Big South game, this year added to the foundation that has been built. Based on the way that the other games are being played out, Liberty would have had a good chance at the playoffs with a win today.

We are the co-champions. To take that away is to take away what the team worked for all year. Its easy to post that on a message board, but they earned it.

The Big South is better than what most on this board give credit. Right now there are 3 teams that are closely matched. Stony Brook and Charleston Southern should be very competitive again next year.

There are a number of key players returning next year. We will reload.

Facilities & fan support are improving. The stadium will be filled for home games and the group that travels to away games will increase.

As a Liberty fan, go ahead and be frustrated and disappointed today but don't lose sleep over it. We will be back and we will be stronger. If you are a player and this is the end of your football career, it will be more difficult.

Right now I am really not looking forward to anyone on our D coming back. We need a lot of improvement on that side of the ball next year to be a real playoff contender. I would hate to win the Big South and then get waxed in our first ever playoff game. We will have the the O but if you can't stop anyone when it counts then...frustration.

See i wouldn't be disappointed as much if we had won and got held out of the playoffs, that would have been expected.. but right now i cant even say we will get it next year since we have the Autobid... not finishing strong and finishing business will not get us into the playoffs..

We are Co-Champs this year. Next year if we lose to Stony Brook (and they only look to be getting better) we will not be co-champs and we will not be looking for an autobid...

i have faith Coach Rocco will use this game as a motivator all offseason

Still a successful season IMO. I don't think anyone predicted at the beginning of the season that we'd be :48 from a playoff berth. This was a great time and have plenty to be proud of this season. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year, right? Well, I'm thankful that next year counts. Both GWU and SB will play at Williams and those two games will decide who gets the Auto-bid. I'm sure Coastal would like a say in the matter, but do they really matter anymore in football?

i would not count out Chuck South from teams that have a say in the matter, in fact i would put them over GWU in all honesty

Fair enough. Still CSU,GW and SB all come through Williams next year!!!! I like that! @ VMI,@Presby and @ Coastal. That's a favorable conference schedule if I've ever seen one. And like I said, next year will be for all the marbles!

The Big South needs to ditch the 'co-champs' crapola. SB beats you head-to-head, they win the title.

With the 'co-champs' stigma, if the BS had an auto bid right now, who would get it?

I feel for y'all. At least my boys eeked one out against the Calvinists this afternoon.

Are you for real?
The Big South is better than what? D3, some D2????
We have built a program on soft schedules and high dollar promotions. We can claim that we are near the top of the bottom. While is appears that nothing has been spared financially to build a IAA power, yet are we just treading water?
