He is a great athlete but QB is not his calling, wr or rb he is at his best.
You must not have seen the Lafayette game.

You have to remember that what you're seeing when Mike's at quarterback are specialized plays. They're generally designed plays where the pocket moves and he has a run/throw option.

At Lafayette, he sat back in the pocket and picked apart their defense.

only a sophmore, however I'm not impressed with his throw, Beecher should teach him his technique if this is Liberty's guy next year.

His throw is not no where near Beecher's

I think some people have misunderstood me... Winning the BSC is an important goal to reach, but it is not the end. All I'm saying is that, since our BSC title doesn't get us into the playoffs, what is it good for, other than showing we're dominant in this conference? If we win next week, we will show to everyone that we are still the best in a pretty bad conference. Everyone wants to see LU in the playoffs, especially those of us that saw us beat Elon last year, which gave us a false belief that we were in. Since we showed we can beat top talent, our (at least my) expectations raise a little higher. Don't get me wrong, I want us to win the title outright with no questions ask, but more than that, I want to see LU in the playoffs. If we win next week and don't get in the playoffs, sure I'll be disappointed, it will not ruin my world, but I think we all will be a little frustrated, especially after come close last year. Next year, the BSC title will mean so much more. Hopefully I've made my point a little more clear....
I think that you were clear in the first point you made and I agree with you. Winning the Big South means were are doing what we are supposed to do and that is to beat bad competition and beat them convincingly. We definately need to set our expectations beyond winning in this terrible conference.

About the game, you have to be impressed with the defensive adjustments we made in the second half to shut them down. There was no way GWU was going to stop our offense since we were really clicking. I knew that GWU was not going to keep the momentum they had in the 2nd quarter with all of the big plays and such. Nice job!

I agree with SJ...You must not have seen the Laffy game, or the NCCU game? I dont think Beecher needs to "teach" Mike any of his techniques. He does well when the coaches actually call on him to throw the ball and will only get better when he actually starts to practice at the QB position--I can't imagine being a starting WR that he actually practices that much at QB? SJ would be a good person to answer that...Also, have you noticed that Mike has a higher efficiency rating and pass completion percentage than Beecher?? He also has ZERO interceptions. I think he's doing/done what is needed of him at the QB position this year. Give him some time, and he'll get even better.

He may be our best QB next year, but will likely also be our best WR also, and once again Rocco will decide what is best for the team. I know there are Mike Brown fans who won't accept it, but if Tyler Brennan continues to improve and we don't have a dramatic upgrade at WR it may once again come down to having 2 of our best players on the field instead of one, which would mean Mike starting at WR and playing a similar role to this year.

I don't care who plays QB or WR as long as we get the W. OK?

Let's think about this for a second. Going into next season we will have Chris Summers at one WR spot. He has proven that he can be a go to receiver. BJ Hayes will be playing at WR and he can be dangerous. Add to them Ervin Garner, Jimmy Eden, Pat Kelly, and maybe a transfer. I think we're solid enough at WR to put Mike at QB full time next year.

I don't think there's any question as to who our QB will be next year. Mike Brown will be electric behind center and as jcmanson just pointed out, Liberty will be fine at the WR position.

We'd be just fine with Tyler under center, too. We will have the same questions next year that we have now. This is why coach is paid the big bucks.

MIke Brown equals Antonio Hefner as a QB, okay QB, but not NFL caliber. Mike's calling for the NFL will be either rb or wr, more so wr I think.

Not big and fast enough to be a nfl rb

but as for now at college, Liberty landed a fine talent and he has two more years to tear up LIberty's record book in all kinds of ways.

I would like to see Beecher eligble to play there one more year, I wonder if he could apply for a sixth?

is there a guru on here who could answer.

What I'm really hoping is that Liberty gets a playoff bid and you guys win NT and Beecher gets a NFL combine invite and that way he can display his strong ball. It worked for Matt Stafford.

Not a Liberty fan. You are clearly one of Beecher's buddies. You don't have to stick too close to him; I'm not sure guys in insurance make enough to better their posse.

I don't care much for people who rely on others success and I don't care much for people who just care for their own. I pull for my natives to do well and I do not know Beecher personally however I know he is a fine super young man who plays his heart out for his team.

I faced the same crowd while pulling for Beecher at USC. Its a shame the fans of a school pull against a players success, its actually pathetic!

One thing you will learn VERY quickly jaydogg is that no one on here wanted to see Tommy fail. We had some guarded optimism but nobody wanted him to not do well here.

there is no quitter in the Beecher family, you guys are blessed you fell to claim him, it may have been God's will so quit the whining and enjoy him while you can and let Brown do his thing and Beecher his, there shold be no QB controversy this year!

Unless you saw Mike running the Offense when he took the reps and ran the offense as the #1, then you don't have a good base for how Mike is at QB. He tore a decent Lafayette defense to pieces under center, and led us from struggling against NCCU to a dominant victory over the Eagles.

I have a feeling that Mike may stay at WR, but I don't think it's because he's less capable at QB. It may just be because a transfer and/or Tyler Brennan are a good QB, and similar to this year, you want to have your best players on the field, and if that means having Mike all over the field, then so be it. Mike is an exceptional athlete, and I think as long as he is giving his all and staying within the offense, he'll be a difference maker at any position he plays. In my opinion, I think that's better served as a WR/RB/Receiver/Wildfire QB, but if it's as a starting QB, I won't be worried one bit. We have a very, very bright future. Imagine having the stable of RB's we have with Mike at QB. We will have so many threats to run the ball successfully for the next couple of years, it will be incredible and very tough to defend.

No. 16 Liberty kept its unbeaten Big South streak alive thanks to a strong second-half effort against Gardner-Webb on Saturday, which led to Liberty leaving Boiling Springs, N.C., with a 51-28 victory over the Bulldogs.

With the victory, along with Stony Brook’s loss to Charleston Southern, Liberty has already claimed a share of the 2009 Big South Conference football title. The Flames will have the opportunity to claim outright their third-straight title next weekend, when Liberty takes on Stony Brook in both squad’s regular season finales in Stony Brook, N.Y.

On a side note, sorry for the shakiness of the camera at times. I didn't have the tripod with me and had to do it hand held.

I'm just loving that you guys are posting the video.

I can't think of a good reason to use sticks for on-field postgame interviews. Just remember to NEVER use the zoom in these deals. Walk the camera in & out.

I love seeing my old classmate Mark on camera as well.
