That will be ugly because no matter how much hype they give ODU, they are still one of the worse teams in FCS...

The Big South is a Joke... But come on the only reason why ODU is 5-2 is because look at who they have to play... I think their opponents combined record is 19-53, not exactly great. Maybe the reason I don't think ODU is good is because I'm from Hampton Roads and they make such a big fuss about them, while we put so much effort to crack the top 25. So yeah I'm a little biased...

Tell me if you've ever heard this before:

There's a state university down by the beach who finally decided they should add football. They hire coaches and do some recruiting. They do their year of practicing and finally it's time to play football. They have a ridiculously easy schedule the first year and do very well. Their second year schedule is a little harder but they still do very well. Then in their 3rd and 4th year they start to play a pretty tough schedule but they're still able to win games and be in the top 25.

That's the Coastal Carolina story. It's the exact same thing that ODU is going to do. How they do in year 5-7 is going to be a lot more interesting than how they do in years 1-4.

It's not that hard to recruit kids when you can tell them anything you want. The ODU coaches could say that they're going to have this facility and that facility and because there is no precedent to say otherwise, recruits believe it. For years Coastal said that they were getting a field house and they told recruits that. Then recruits found out that it was getting pushed back and pushed back and pushed back and that worked against Coastal. There was now a precedent to go against what the coaches were saying.
