West Virginia deserves everything that gets said about them and more. That place is the worst I have ever been to for any sporting event. Sure, they will beat us but it wont stop anyone from saying the truth about that place. WVU is always one of the most overrated teams in the D1 anyway.

I laughed a lot at your first statement. Excellent analogy, abd exactly why I stayed away from that debate.

To your second statement, yes anything can happen. But Michigan is not West Virginia (see level of athleticism), and Liberty is most certainly Not App State. ASU won that game on speed, they couldn't have done it with size/strength. Liberty will not be able to do either against WVU.

I think a better comparison would be the gardner webb/georgia tech game last year. That was something like 14 to 7. As far as Appy State being lightyears ahead of lu, I don't buy into that. In the 90s we used to play them all the time...and the games we're tight when we played at home...even when Karcher was here we led most of the game against Appy. As far as this being the best team we've ever played...would this year's wvu be able to beat the Wake Forest team from 2 years ago? How about the 14th ranked undefeated Marshall with Pennington from back in the day?

Either way, being an LU transplant in WV and esp. in WVU country, for my churches sake, WVU better slaughter LU. I'm going to be going with some members of our church and as obnoxious as I am about Liberty sports to begin with, they will NEVER live it down if they lose.

WVU is a very good team...they'll be better this year than they were last year and that's scary. It seemed their whole defense went down at some point last year with injuries.

hey lueer...I went to both Pitt and LU...but I'd still cheer for LU against Pitt. It's not like WVU has ever won a natl championship or anything. They can't even beat a bad Pitt team on a regular basis. They lost to a Pitt team recently that needed a last minute fieldgoal to beat a 1-aa school. So I say if they play bad and we play over our heads then we can make a game of it.

The hypothetical game in question would be won in the trenches. We could probably match up with their back up skill positions because of the learning curve. The OL and DL programs bring in, even at the Fresh and soph level are much better than our starters. They would be able to push the line with ease

Plus you can't discount the fact that Beecher assuming he is the starter is going to be good for 2-3 picks in that game.

There is w/o a doubt a reason why WVU backups are at a FBS school and not at a FCS school. They are good enough to compete and play on a consistent basis. Period. Alot of LU stars were backups at that level.

I would have to disagree with the statement that WVU's backup offensive line and dline would be better than our starters. Just look back to 2006 when we played Wake Forest. We gave up one sack that game and had a touchdown drive late in the game against a mixture of their starters and backups. That WFU team won the 2006 ACC CHAMPIONSHIP. This WVU team will be no better than that team( The Wake Forest defense had at least 4 guys off of it that are now in the NFL. One being Aaron Curry.) Our strength and conditioning program is second to none and we will be as strong or stronger than WVU, so I do not see them pushing us around. The difference is going to be their team speed and their speed at RB and WR. If the Flames dont go and lay an egg this game will be closer than people think... maybe even an Appy State type shocker....
