CHARLOTTE — Tommy Beecher wasn’t in attendance at the Big South Conference’s football media day Friday, but he was there in spirit.
The former USC quarterback’s new team, Liberty University, was picked to repeat as conference champions in a vote of coaches and media. And there’s a good chance Beecher could start this season under center for the Flames, just as he did for the Gamecocks against N.C. State at the start of the 2008 season.
