Here is who is on the Committee

University of Montana athletic director Jim O’Day

Other committee members are all acting athletic directors and include Dave Kaverman of Southeast Missouri State and Tim Van Alstine of Western Illinois representing the Central Division; Bruce McCutcheon of Lafayette and John McCutcheon of Massachusetts of the East; Floyd Kerr of Morgan State and
Warren Koegel of Coast Carolina from the South; and O’Day and Richard Benardi of Nicholls State representing the West.

We can get a little bit of help...

Hmmmm. At least TWO on the committee know about how AWESOME our home crowds can be. I know it's a snowball's chance at the beach...but wonder if that can parlay into a home game? I am sure our bid has to be very competitive if not over the top.

Look when the chips were down and teams needed a win: LU WON, WandM lost, and Maine lost!

The committe told Coach what to do and we did it, we should be in.

Exactly. I am cautiously optimistic after reading Chris' post. I'll put Smoothie's post down due to him being a frustrated UVA fan who is just being a gloomy Gus.

Smoothie is not wrong for his opinion, we talked about it on the phone for over an hour and pretty much agree, it has nothing to do with UVA... I really hope we get in but if it is W&M it would not surprise me....

I know....I know. He has been saying the same thing for the better part of two weeks. I am simply choosing not to believe him.
(and I am just giving him grief about UVA).

Better to be coming down to the wire than hanging from a wire at 1-10! If you could have been up here today...you would have been as giddy as the rest of us are.

Other than the seeds, home games have to do with Geography and the Almighty dollar.

We won't be getting a seed, so our best shot after that would be if they send Colgate, EKU or Wofford to JMU, and send Sc State to App. Then maybe we could host an east coast team since we would fork over the dollars. But, that being said, I have a feeling that, if we don't go straight to JMU, that we might wind up in Richmond, since they historically pay up to get home games and probably have the more proven fanbase.

I suspect if we do not get a home bid...we will get sent to JMU...although I would be happy to be traveling ANYWHERE as opposed to be sitting at home next Saturday.

Indeed!

Like I sang (maybe screamed...) in my modified version of the fight song....

"Fan the flames, and be true... NEXT WEEK AT JMU"

Bring on the Dukes! Will be fun, if nothing else, to experience PLAYOFF FOOTBALL!

I would have loved to have been there but the JOB kept me away... Homecoming was the only game I was able to get up for, I kinda know what Sly feels like now.. I still talk to the coaches and know what's going on..

Clearly, if W&M's name pops up on the board tomorrow night, LU is done.

From what I gather, teams with a shot of getting the at-large berth:
Big Sky: Montana
Big South: Liberty
CAA: New Hampshire, Villanova, Richmond, William & Mary
Great West: Cal Poly (who just lost to I-A Wisconsin in OT)
Ivy League: none (does not play in post season)
MEAC: Florida A&M
Mizzou Valley: Northern Iowa
Northeast: none (does not play in post season)
Ohio Valley: Jacksonville State
Patriot: None
Pioneer: none (does not play in post season)
Southern: Wofford
Southland: None
SWAC: Prairie View A&M

That's 12 teams for eight eligible spots.

I think Montana and Wofford are in. I don't think SWAC teams get invited, so Prairie View A&M is out. New Hampshire is in, and Richmond is in. Northern Iowa is in. That's five. Cal Poly is in. Villanova too. Florida A&M is out. That leaves us, Jacksonville State, and William & Mary, for one playoff spot... and I think we should have enough votes on the board to give us the edge.

This guy predicts us as the last seed.

Liberty (10-2) finished as undefeated champions of the Big South, a conference which will, shortly, receive an auto-bid to the playoffs. They have also met two of the three conditions for automatic inclusion in the field: they have eight Division I wins, and have won two games against teams from automatic qualifying conferences. They MIGHT fulfill the third requirement, an average of 16 or better in the Sports Network Poll, the FCS Coaches Poll, and the computer numbers, but that is information which I am not privy to. But, ultimately, I do not think it matters. One could argue endlessly about whether Liberty is a better team than Elon, Maine, and William & Mary. What matters is that they are the better choice to fill out the field.

ToTheLeft wrote:The VMI common opponent thing is pretty bogus, IMO. They hosted VMI, and we went to VMI. VMI is a conference game, and a rival for us. No comparison.
But you seem to be forgetting that VMI sucks.

i think the committee does look at losses so the tribe's losses are much better than ours...if there is such a thing. they lost to two top ten teams, and im not sure if nova was ranked when they played. obviously i want the flames in,but that presby loss hurts us. the tribe has a good arguement.

When we play in the playoffs next saturday, what will the WR lineup look like. Does Brwon start? So he and Summers platoon? Does someone else step up? Will B.J. Hayes line up out there? Discuss.

Mike Brown plays in place of Bolden.

He has proven he has what it takes to be a play making receiver for us.

Summers would be the 3rd WR, with Hayes playing his usual WR/Slot back/A-back type of deal.

COULD still happen, but to depend on attendance is a moot point. Students still won't be back next Saturday, and the committee will know that.
