Wins over teams with records of

3-8, 3-8, 6-5, 6-5, 5-6, 5-6, 3-7 and 2 DII schools

Losses to a DI transitional school and an unranked team

Good resume guys.

Were going to get blown out by Elon. We still cant stop anyone. But even if we beat Elon, theres no reason we should get the last spot over CAA #5.

And even if that happens, they got screwed

i think we should hold this topic until after elon. as much as i hate it, i don't see us winning that one. they tore us up with short passes last year, and if anything we are worse at stopping them this year. granted lastyear was a let down game after W&M, but still their offense will kill our D i'm afraid.

i hope i'm wrong

Our defense also played a lot better last night against what is close to the same offense as Elon.

They just happen to have better players, play better teams, and just got home from playing App close in Boone.

Ill believe it when I see it.

I'm not saying we won't have problems, I'm saying give credit where credit is due instead of being so pessimistic about our defense. You guys complained we didn't get any pressure on the QB and then last night we had more pressure than we had in two years, mixing up the blitzing and the zone coverage. There was improvement.

I didnt say there wasnt an improvement, I just dont think we will have an answer for what Elon throws at us.

last night the defense played probably the best all around game they have all season in my opinion....there is room for improvement, and they are far from perfect...but I was encouraged to see them mix things up a bit...it was great to see

Even if we beat Elon I don't see us getting picked based off of Schfourteenteen's post. We can get ready for next year

Whoa Whoa Whoa

I thought this was common knowledge but i can go through it one more time:

Citing "schfourteenteen" as a reference will not only fail you among professors in all academic projects, it will also make you look stupid in front of your friends

I'm pretty sure the committe will take us over a 4 loss CAA or SoCon team strictly to prove to everyone in non auto conferences that its possible to get in. That is if we beat elon. I'm pretty sure coastal got in over 4 loss teams in the SoCon and CAA in 06.

ever seen Rodney Landers play? ;) i don't think any defense wants to line up against that boy.

But Coastal did beat Furman, a team ranked in the top 10. That is why they got in.

I do like our chances against Elon because we are at home and for all of the senior starters we have. I know that it would be an unset if we did pull it off but if we play D like we did last night we could keep them under 30 points and if our offense is on we could pull it off.

My Point exactly. A win against elon would probably do the exact thing that the furman game did for Coastal. You gotta remember Coastal lost to elon and Georgia southern that year and elon was really not that great that year. Also Coastal went through two of the conference games by less than a touchdown. Us and VMI.

our defense had one good game. congratulations, i don't want to take away from that. good job, and please keep it up. We've had more bad games than good ones though, and based on what i've seen this year and last year, we will lose. i'm not being pessimistic, i'm being realistic. there is a reason elon is ranked where they are and we are where we are. i'd love to see the upset, i just don't expect it. but ill be on the field with the rest of you if it happens.

But Coastal did lose at home to a 5-6 Elon team.

I agree...we may win but it would be considered a great upset

the thought of our defense against Elon causes many to lose sleep...sadly it's LU fans and not Elon's Offensive players
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
