I don't know anything. It's just a thought. I mean, we are hurting at that position.

If everyone else thinks it would be bad for the program, then I understand. But I just think that this will get little if any coverage at all if he signs with us. It don't think it will look that bad on our school.

And there will be no F bombs Leo.

And say what you want Postman. And sorry about bringing up the whole music thing, you can't go back to that because you lost your job... I'm guessing that's why you got so upset at me.

I lost my job?? you really should know what you are talking about before you say something...you have no clue what you are talking about.

you asked for opinions on this man...and I gave mine..no need to get all upset because people disagree

I wanted everyone's opinion... I didn't want you to basically call me a moron because you disagree with me.

Sorry I said that. That was probably a little harsh. I just heard you didn't work in radio anymore. I guess that was wrong.

I just didn't like the way you just shot this down like it was the dumbest idea ever. It really came off in a snobby and condescending way. That's why I said what i said.

But to avoid :beatinghorse ... I guess we can just stop talking about it.

I just figured it makes logical sense to go after that kid...

I'm confused by that last one too...isnt this Flame Fan's? Isnt it in the bylaws or something that you MUST be called a moron if you're disagreed with? I've always thought so.

No I was wondering how luke tells posty of his "football incompetence" then is whining about being "called a moron" against his will.

Well-played. This should get Supe out of the "center" of the storm.

I have really mixed feelings about the possibility of this kid coming here. Obviously a player who started for Texas would be an instant contributor at a position where we have big shoes to fill. I'm a big believer in second chances, but with the (totally bogus & undeserved) reputation LU has as being a redneck/racist place to begin with, I'm not sure it's worth the inevitable controversy which would surround this whole situation.

Yea, I feel the same way. He would be Huge (pardon the pun) on the field. But we would get some major bad pub out of him coming here. Also, I wouder what effect it might have on trying to draw "townies" to the games who already don't like LU so much. However, I think everyone makes dumb mistakes and he deserves a second chances. If LU can't be a place for second chances, then it would become hard to call ourselves a Christian school. Before someone jumps on me, there is a limit to what we should accept. This guys offense was stupid, but not at all criminal.

I still don't like it...if he does come here I hope the coaches and other staff work with him as he clearly has some issues

Really? Clearly has some issues? If that's the case, half of this school "clearly has some issues" because in the week surrounding the election I heard and read numerous things that were just as bad as what he said. Was it in bad taste? Yes. Does he "clearly have some issues?" That's just dumb.

Yeah, there's no "issues" here. The kid made a bonehead move that a DI athlete shouldn't make. He will have a negative light shone on him. But he isn't a bad kid BASED ON THIS. Is it possible he's just not a good person? Sure. But I don't know him, and none of you guys know him, so to say he is anything more than a terrific athlete who made a mistake is reading WAY TOO MUCH into one, isolated incident.

and anybody who made the election about race clearly has some issues when it comes to race...whether they want to admit it or not

If the guy is truly sorry, thats awesome...good for him

What if it was just a joke that was made in bad taste? I'll admit I love racist jokes, whether the jokes be able blacks, Asians, whites, etc. I'm not racist by any means, but I think the jokes are funny. I have no race issues.

you said it, not me...haha

seriously though, I don't think you get what I am saying...or trying to say...I do think people are uptight for the most part about this kind of thing...but what he said went way beyond an innocent racist joke in my opinion...that is my opinion, and its not going to change

with that said, if the guy was joking and is clearly sorry then thats great...if he is coming to LU I hope nothing but the best for the guy here

So who has more issues, Burnette or the kids at Texas that made him scared to go to class in fear of someone doing something to him?

Depends, its an isolated incident. Also you cant lump the men and women there together because some are the true causers and some followers.

So the guys who are under the belief that you cant judge someone by one action cant judge these guys either. Call them different, because they are. But we dont know anything about the people over there.

obviously them jon...

there have been a lot of racial issues that have come to surface that past couple of months...people who i never imagined had any racial issues all of a sudden were saying off the wall things...it doesn't make it right

I do think I was off base earlier in this thread when it first came out to say I wouldn't want him here...because we as Christians should be willing to forgive people and give the a second chance...

but I do not think I am off base to say he clearly has some racial issues...and the fact he aplogized and it seemed heart felt shows that he realizes these issues he has or had with a black guy being in office was wrong...
