He brought instant credibility to the program and helped us to get ranked in several national polls over the years. Him being honored is well deserved and couldn't happen to a better person. He was always willing to help out in any way possible and raised a great family. We are still reaping the benefits with Paul here on staff. Way to go ....for honoring such a great man.

Like SCAR and Gomes, did you have HAIR when you played?
Ha, ha........I actually did have hair when I played...........now, not so much. I was on the team for Coach Sam's last year......so perhaps I'm not an oldhag, yet......maybe "gaining in experience".

If LU is going to honor a coach in this way then I think it would have to be coach Sam. Like it or not he IS the standard by which coaches are judged by in this program. I don't think any other coach had his success...such as it was. Maybe in the future some coach will set a new standard (Rocco?) but until that happens Sam is the man. I knew him very well during his time at Liberty and while there were no playoff berths or a conference affiliation he did about as well as anyone could have expected. If nothing else the visibility and national exposure expanded greatly during his tenure and was very instrumental in making Liberty what it is. I support giving him the honor....I might question picking Eric Green over Dwayne Carswell, but thats another argument..................

Wish I could agree with the crowd regarding Coach Sam. He certainly made an indelible impression both on and off the field on many people while here.
I'll just be on the outside looking in on this one.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
