Sly asked it tonight so I thought I would answer. Red shirts burned tonight:

22 - Brandon Robinson
98 - Asa Chapman
49 - Matt Bevins

Crap, one more thing.

In the first quarter when the guy came straight up the middle and sacked Brock, that was a miscommunication. The play called was a run to Rashad. The play before Rashad did something to one of his fingers and as the ball was about to be snapped, he knew he couldn't hold the ball, so he told Brock to change the play. Brock audibled, but apparently there was something that didn't get translated. That's what happened on that play.

That guy is such a wuss, now using a cain thats about a foot too small for him. One strained muscle and he looks like Ralphie from A Christmas Story when he goes bling from soap poisoning. Official drama queen

My thoughts on the game:

[/TTL's favorite place to eat] cannot complete an order on time.
The tailgating row looks amazing
Free ice cream is really cool

As for the game itself:

Who won the hillbilly golf tourney?

We never got around to doing the tournament.

I love our tailgating spot, but I do miss being around the other tailgaters. We're kinda secluded until game time.

yeah it was nice having space but i think i prefer being with other tailgaters. half the experience is the interaction with other groups

I just don't see another spot where we will be able to get close to 30-40 people in at one time and not feel crowded.

The doctor told him he might have torn some tendons in his foot. Dr Kerr wanted him to march but his foot was still all swole up and what not so he couldnt even fit his other marching shoe. He was using crutches (like me oftentimes) but after about a day he went out to Wal-Mart and got the cane you saw last night. if its just a strain he could be on the field next week when we play to the student side

Over on the Baptist side you could feel a lot more energy in the fans than last year. Hopefully, that will bode well for shattering some attendance records this year.

Good start last night......
Great student crowd, jokers were hillarious, and SJ looked like a general before his troops, amassed on the horizon.

Good game because of the intensity, while working out communication and timing issues in a game where we were not threatened. We need to become more efficient in communication, especially before the half.

O Line was abusive, yet when you are up against sub par d line, the reactions from the opposition are different than that of higher level d linemen. Screens didn't time up well.

Also, this is the first time our O Line have been able to cut block since GW in November. A little rusty here.

Theory on injuries, not only in our camp, but nationwide its seems. I don't discount the wave of coincedence, but all of these guys are more powerful and explosive in every department thanks to Coach Bill. But the structure of bone, tendon, ligaments remain somewhat constant. So when out on the field, the impact is far greater than a year ago, thus accounting for the stresses/injuries. It is a good thing, as we acclamate to a more intense tempo.

Asa will be good with more work......one of the reasons for the grounding penalties. QB felt like a cookie in a field of blue hair.
But he stands up to quickly, looking in the backfield. I liked Childress finding windows to the football.
Pulled Hursky out early to keep him safe. Cheek is a promising project at OLB.

Only big bummer was the combination of injuries (can't be helped), time outs by NGU, and TV time outs. Really made things drag at times. However, the band and SJ could fill the void with video prductions and this would improve an already great atmosphere.

Listening to Rashad after the game.....Champion's focus on getting better and not being satisfied with how things went.

Just watched the video highlights on the athletic site and I've gotta give credit when it's due: FTN has stepped up with their graphics, at least from that short clip. The thing they showed and the beginning and the end with the logo is much much more up to date than the stuff they were using last year and it actually looks pretty good.

I haven't seen this posted, but he also elected to have his knee scoped on Monday. Hopes to be back for the WCU game.

I guess this would fit into the "no news is good news" category, but Dominic was helped off the field in the 3rd quarter and did not return. Anyone know if he is OK?

I hope that's all. It looked to me like a groin pull, but Rocco said he believed it was just cramps.

Ill say this i saw him warming up before that return where he went down. He was doing short sprints, and then pounding his hamstring after each one...so i could tell he was frustrated or something was tight. I really hope thats all it was as well.

I listened to the whole game on the audio and was happy that we came out with some intensity and put NGU away early. Last year we seemed to "sleepwalk" against these division 2 teams but this year we seemed to play with a purpose. This might not be a true indicator of where we are as a program right now since we were up against a division 2 program but certainly was very encouraging to see us win convincingly despite somewhat sloppy play with the penalties and such. NGU was pretty highly regarded as far as division 2 teams go, play a relatively tough div 2 schedule, and have been known to play tough against some 1AA's. I think that the WCU and YSU games will be better indicators of where we are.

Offense - A little disappointed with the penalties although it might have been expected. Was disappointed that we did not go deep enough with our bench with the Offensive line. According to the player participation report we did not play Spencer Hodges, Toney White, and Antonio Tassara. Why were they not in there? Not ready perhaps, injuries. That stinks about Terry Williams getting hurt but I hope for the best with him.

Defense - Very impressive performance especially since NGU's offense came in so highly regarded with Cummings being a pro prospect and all. We pretty much shut them down and we went very deep in our bench. If not for our mistakes we get the shutout. Cummins was not much of a factor exept late in the game when it didn't really matter much.

Hard to find too many negatives with that performance and Coach Rocco already stated that in his post-game.

i think part of the credit for the students being so loud needs to go to becki falwell and athletics. they created that cookout with the chancellor and then taught all the freshman the fight song and the different cheers, so they had a heads up coming in to the game. it was nice to have more than 15 people knowing what was going on this year, by conference play we should be well organized and i think it will be an even better atmosphere

-The view of the student side was AMAzing. For a while there, there weren't enough seats for those standing at the top but then they moved to the sides and sat on the grass. When we started chanting the "L" "U" , student side was the loudest I'd ever heard and once again AMAzing!!!
- I think it was because of the freshmen still learning the "move those chains" chant, but you guys were not in sync - one side reached the "huh!" before the otherside, so y'all need to work on that.
-The SOTMB blew me away!! Have they grown?? BJ???? Never had they captivated my (nor those around me) attention like they did last night! Awesome job!!! The music selection was also better and overall very entertaining. Even Jonathan commented in church this morning on how well they did!
-My son who attended Liberty in the late 90's was amazed by the crowd last night.
-Do I get any credit for suggesting the song, "Welcome Back"?

The band is almost 190 strong this year so that definitely contributed to the bigger sound. I really liked the reaction to the Batman logo from both sides (although the logo was upside down to the students)

The LUnatics received PLENTY of attention throughout the telecast. Ray & Mike both referred to the group a zillion times and even Samantha mentioned you guys during her interview with JJ.

I agree with bozlady that the Red Sea looked fantastic on television. The spillover onto the hillsides gave a great visual on television. Let's hope the weather cooperates this weekend and the crowds can be even larger. Everyone who was there should want to return after that experience. And the Red Zone deal worked on television as well even though they received an undue amount of face time simply because of their proximity to the endzone camera. But the FTN folks did a tremendous job of capturing the essence of the experience.

And I'm not sure who is responsible (although I have my strong suspicions) but the LU spots were of much higher calibre than last season. The Boomin' spot and all of the others (with the exception of the law school commercial .. and there's only so much you can do to make law school scintillating) really came off very well.
Coaching changes

It appears your intel was on the mark.
