Maybe people will start listening to what I say after those quotes from Gill/Dailey and not call me delusional.
In summation of what I've been saying:
Masha is significantly better than anyone else we have on our roster.
Calvert was better prepared for the level of competition due to his background.
Redshirting Yearick was the best decision to help him develop into the D-1 speed of the game.

Also, Jones is no Swanson. The kid can play. Will he play in a game, unlikely, but "the receivers are not disappointed when Jones steps up to throw in practice".
Your points are legit, but I would add that the thing that may very well have put Calvert over the top for the backup job was his "impressive" ability to learn the system so quickly

The advantage Masha has always had (even last year) was that guys like to play with him. There were guys on the team who were more confident going into the Coastal game in 2014 with Masha as the quarterback than they would've been with Josh. He's the leader on the field that Josh never was. If his arm talent has improved like people say it has, we'll be in store for a pretty good quarterback this year.

The QB position is probably my least worry going into the season. I hope we can run ball better than last year. If we do, it will help passing game.

It all comes down to the o-line. We have talented RBs.

I won't argue against that. He is definitely more familiar with the talent level.

From the looks of it, Dailey and Gill have given the keys to the Maserati that is (supposed to be) our offense to Masha and said, "alright bud, youre the one who's gonna drive this thing". Im sure Calvert will get chances to "drive this thing" on occasion, particularly when the outcome is decided.

I wonder if Buckshot recorded one of those ball spinning head shots for the pregame starting lineup announcements on the video board ?

My guess is they probably did something for everybody...the vast majority of them will probably never be used, but...if the opportunity does present itself, at least they will have something in the can ready to go instead of scrambling to put something together last minute...

would you care to wager on that
I'm talking the stupid nickname forced by his dad, not his playing ability.

That was what I was thinking while I was writing my post Jon (I figure you would know since you worked in that area when you were with the program) but I don't quite think it came out right...thanks for that

I think "forced" is an overstatement of the situation His dad wanted to give him a colorful middle name, and Buckshot Jones was his favorite NASCAR driver The kid actually seems to prefer Buck, but I see no indication he has any problem with either or with plain old Stephen or Steve for that matter All have been used by various people and in various forums

Wait so that's his actual name? It's not a nickname?!

I just find it highly amusing and annoying that the kid's dad is following people around on Twitter and any time they call him Stephen he responds by saying it's actually Buckshot. That's helicopter dad 101 right there.

What is "have something for him" supposed to mean :dontgetit He will either go with Buckshot or Buck or he will just call him Stephen York likes nicknames, so my guess is one of the former He has been known to make up nicknames for players, but that would be pretty dumb if the kid already has one
