The label that says "Coastal's Flag on this one" is actually an easily removable sticker, underneath it says "Reserved for Presbyterian 2008"

How cool would it be if we put those flag poles all the way around the stadium. That would be cool.

I asked the Armstrong guys and they said they're changing out every bulb in those lights!
There's also a couple of new flagpoles in front of Hancock.

Did you hear about what happened at NC State's baseball field? At the Impact World Series some kid was playing with the screwed and the pole fell. Luckily no one was around and it didn't hurt anyone.

My favorite line in the Flag Pole Press Release: including a flag that will display the Big South’s newly enhanced logo.

Newly enhanced? I can see it now--this flag pole sponsored by Levitra. Or have a pix of Smiling Bob. One question--does the pole only stay up for 36 hours at a time? What happens if the flag is only at half-mast? (OK, make that two questions).

what's so exciting about flags?? i wouldn't be surprised if they said the turf isn't here tomorrow.

I think that the flags are a stupid idea. Why do we want to advertise a conference like the Big South. Sure hope that the turf gets here soon so we can practice some on it to get a feel for playing on it.

It isn't about advertising at all. It's about bringing part of an actual collegiate environment to our stadium, something that has been sorely lacking ever since I can remember.

I would like to know who else on the 1AA level does this.

Just about everybody. Off the top of my head VMI, The Citadel, JMU, W&M, Coastal, Chuck Southern, Western Carolina, Youngstown, Hofstra, Georgia Southern, Elon, UConn. ETSU used to hang them from the ceiling. I don't think Appy or Eastern Kentucky does but Appy's remodelled Kidd-Brewer since I was there last, they might do it now. It's a fairly common practice.

VMI also flies the flags of their OOC opponents on the poles left over from their old SoCon days.

While it's a small start, that idea will be complete when two things happen:

a. A fully constructed stadium
b. Consistency with winning seasons and regular postseason play.

I'm all for anything that makes the game not feel like it's just a glorified high school game. I think the improvements made will do just that and more. Atmosphere is important and it's about time we had a bit more of it at games.

Wow, feel the pessimism. The little things count. Putting windows around the concession stand, flying the conference flags, some repainting in places. Those are the little things that set an ok place off from a great place. I'm not saying we have a great place right now, I'm saying it's the small details the set things off.

Did someone really say we didn't have a fully constructed stadium? Are you on drugs? We've got the typical I-AA stadium. It holds 12,000 people. How is it not fully constructed? You can add another section on the top of the away side and bam, you've got Kidd Brewer, one of the best stadiums in all of I-AA (22,000 capacity). We've got the biggest stadium in the conference I think. I-AA stadiums aren't massive things like the Orange Bowl or that stuff.

I never thought that conference team flags were put up by so many colleges in there stadiums . I would think that it would be a little on the tacky side.

Dear Mr. Barber,
Please take down the flags at the stadium because Stevev things they are 'tacky'.

Sincerely,

Did you also think it was tacky having them at the baseball stadium?

We have BS team banners in the Vines and it's not overly tacky. NFL stadiums have all of the NFL team flags around the stadium. I think this is pretty standard stuff. I do think we should have many flag poles around the stadium with no team flags. Just many american flags. That'd look cool and be patriotic and somewhat represent "Liberty".

This is just me, and it's kind of a steal from Rosenblatt Stadium and the College World Series, but I think it'd be awesome to have every team flag of the teams we play. Then, if we beat them, we lower their flag to half mast.

The CWS lowers the flags of the teams that get knocked out to half mast and keep them like that until only one flag is left.

Hey Chris you think you could get AD Barber on the horn and find out just what the deal is with the delivery of the turf before Libertine gets brain damaged from lack of oxygen

BJ ... I'm sure he'd give me the same answer he gave me earlier in the week when I saw him ... "We've been going back and forth with the company, but ..."

I'm sure the situation is the same.
