To me the most important change that i saw in week 1 was how good the lines held up especially the o line. If we can keep that up then we can win some of these big games this year. The wrs cant possibly play that bad all year. Too much talent there not to. I

Wow, I stand in awe of that type of program building. I would give him more credit than that, but I guess they never would have asked any other FB coach their thoughts. Did he raise the money for any of that? Rocco was fortunate, and rightly took full advantage of, that he came on board right when LU had an 'Open Checkbook' policy for the football team. He didn't screw it up, which is not always the case.
The only reason I'm talking about it is because it was brought up.
He did a lot more than that. Those are just the obvious things that can be seen. He raised just a little less money than Gill is now, but that is changing quickly. Plus, attendance and fan enthusiasm was better.

They still have a virtually open checkbook policy with football. Its even more wide open than it was in the past.

Back to Norfolk State.

Offensive line and defensive line were really good last week against UNC. If we can capitalize on that advantage, we definitely win the game this week.

This seems to be a strength of Gill's teams here. Very few penalties.
It is. We have really improved on avoiding stupid personal fouls.

I mentioned this on my blog, but the Ervin angle is an interesting sidelight. If he plays, you know that deep down in his psyche somewhere, he is going to want to prove to Coach Gill and the staff that they made a mistake and he will want to make them pay for that mistake every time he touches the ball.

Really we have kept penalties down as a whole the last couple years. I would have to do some serious digging in the box scores to find many holding, false start or procedure penalties in addition to the useless personal fouls

It definitely plays a role.

I think that they are going to throw a lot of different looks at our defense and utilize a couple of trick plays, unorthodox formations, and unusual personnel in critical moments. They are going to be aggressive in offensive play calling and get the ball in their playmakers' hands in space; they might even use Trail on offense if they really need it. I'm sure that their staff is thinking that a couple of different plays here and there would have won the game against Maine. We have to stop them when they try to use them.

Central Michigan beat Jacksonville State and Chattanooga last week? I bet those kids are tired. :I chortle audibly.:
he meant Michigan St obviously. With all those directional schools up there it gets confusing.
Yes, thank you. That was just my way of helping him out.

This is my first video preview...its a raw job on my part (and nowhere to SJ quality) since this is my first time trying this, and I am doing this in one take on my phone. Hopefully I can get my laptop up and running next week which should help things.
