Yeah I noticed they were missing a few sounds too like that base line right after they saw "it's third down" idk if it was just a sympathy thing or what?

Also what was with all the proposals tonight

Last year the 3rd down music was clearly illegal as they would do it right up to the snap and it caused a lot of delay of games. I don't think a ref ever caught on though. This year I noticed they were playing it up until the 15 second mark on the play clock. I figured that was legal since it seemed so planned out.

I'm glad they're still playing "tonight, tonight". Not because I like the song, but it makes some of you angry :D

I don't mind a little Bob Bob Bob ra Ann but overall I've wondered why? on the music played at fb, bb and bb games. If it's Christian It Should Be Better. With all the types of good Christian music out nowdays why do we even hear a secular song? Rap to Gaither there's tons to appeal to old, young and everyone. We are playing this stuff in OUR house. Unless you're blaring Victory In Jesus the non churched crowd probably wouldn't even know what they were listening to. Most of the time it's the music you listen to and not the words anyway. I love a lot of secular music but when I actually listen to the lyrics the pleasure is gone.
Band Music - I'm sick of "marching bands" that think they are on broadway, a jazz hall, etc. I loved watching Wisconsin and Notre Dame playing real football marching music. That's the music you can get into the spirit with.
I have felt this way about our music for a long time and had decided to comment before I scrolled down and was pleasantly surprised to see that many others kind of feel the same way.
Music is amoral but we can make it moral.

Nothing makes me more mad than the student section dancing the Cupid Shuffle. That's a sin against a Holy God!

All kidding aside, there's plenty of good clean secular music. Not every song, but there's one folks can identify with without compromising our beliefs.

I could understand journey being a little overboard, but other than I'm fine with what we play. I absolutely love some the classic rock songs we play. When you grow up in the South, these are our anthems.

I know some of you won't be happy until we sing "friends" by michael w. Smith coming out on the field. For those of you, I'm sorry.

I noticed at the last basketball game that they are basically playing the same songs as the football games.

Will the baseball team be the only athletic team that bucks the system and plays a little country music? It's worth going to baseball games just to hear a little Johnny Cash over the loudspeakers.

I think they are afraid that if they play I Walk The Line, Folsum Prison Blues or I hung My Head people will get the wrong idea! Although Personal Jesus might work! :D

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned yet, but what about some good stadium songs such as:

Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
Jump Around - House of Pain

I know Wisconsin does the whole end of the 3rd quarter thing with Jump Around, but that doesn't mean we can't play it during a timeout to get the students fired up.

Also, something that I noticed Notre Dame start doing is they play Shipping Up To Boston by The Dropkick Murphy's, right before kickoffs. It's got a little Irish Flavor to it. I think we need a song like that, something we could kind of "claim as our own," if you know what I mean.

Wisconsin has pretty much cornered Jump Around as their "stadium song" I think (although their's maybe a different version)

I've heard this numerous times at the football games and always wanted to know who sang it. My wife and i were snoozing thru The Hangover to other night and the guitar rift woke me up like i've heard this before. At the games tey very rarely get to the lyrics[youtube]

The white stripes song is the dumbest most annoying song ever.

And the only reason anyone likes it is so they can scream intermittently .

Personally, I think we should make the Cupid Shuffle our 3rd quarter song. 8)

Would it be "Crazy Train" by Ozzie Osbourne?

It starts out by him yelling "All board" and then gets into a guitar solo. Words pick up, but it is about a minute into it and by that time the sound people back off so you don't hear the singing.

The Cupid Shuffle? Seriously? If we did that, we may be the laughing stock of college football.
