I never said it was going to be like JMU's. I posted the picture and said it will be similar to that.

I'm sure it will look nice, regardless. I hope that they don't make one endzone red and one blue...I'm a big fan of symmetry.

Make them both blue - espescially if we're going to the new blue and white uniforms (a Penn State sort of look?!?)

We're using red jerseys too. Plus, everyone is told to wear red for game day.

Though it will be good either way, that's too bad, the two-toned look is pretty sharp. Over on
http://www.Anygivensaturday.com there is a thread with links to the pictures of the UMass Field Turf installation. Seems like this is a windfall year for FieldTurf in I-AA (Championship Subdivision); a running list:

1. JMU
2. William & Mary
3. UMass
4. Liberty

others?

UMass had to do something. Their grass was in horrible shape. A lot of the northeastern and mountain school are going to FieldTurf because it's much easier to manage.

I liked the two tone look as well, but it will still look very nice. Looking forward to seeing it when it is complete.

I was driving onto campus this morning and saw some folks driving into the stadium. I think they are starting the installation today

Has it been delivered? I know you said it was supposed to come in last week but I don't remember reading if it actually came in or not.

Still waiting on that Big Truck O' Turf to come rolling through the embattled gates and invoke an age of frolic in Elysian fields of Foliage' Synthetique.

I don't know what I'm saying. My blood sugar must be really high right now.

You're saying it's 2pm on August 7th, 24 days before the first game, and the turf hasn't even been brought to campus yet.

I've got to imagine Barber and Rocco have got to be as frustrated as anyone with this.

Yeah, it was only 10 days ago that Aug 5th was the day and the last day that it would take to be done...frustrated I assume is only the beginning!!!!!

I'd say you could take how frustrated we are as fans and multiply it somewhere around, let's say, 100 and you've got them. I could only imagine the butt chewing someone's going to get over this, or they have gotten already.

We are listed on their website as one of their "Up and Coming Installs", for whatever that's worth.

----

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to list the company. It's FieldTurf, Inc. Now on the web at http://www.fieldturf.com.

Luconn,

you are obviously a comic at heart/Magician at heart if you have Geob (pronounced Job like the guy in the Bible) Bleuth as an avatar. Bring back arrested development. Speaking of Arrested Development, this turf project seems to be in that very state right now. (Nice seque so I can't be accused of a total hijack)

They may have us confused with that "other school" on the "other side of town." Lynchburg College is apparently installing the stuff in their soccer/lacrosse/field hockey stadium.

I may be mistaken on this, but doesn't FieldTurf make the product and then contract the installation out to a local turf management company in the client's vicinity? Here is the link to some detailed pictures from the UMass Installation. I like the way they put the darker shade around the field for the team standing areas, makes it look really sharp.

Also, on the previous post, does anyone know if the soccer field is also getting updated with this stuff?

I haven't heard that they are. They also haven't done anything to prep the soccer field for it, so I'm guessing no.

Unless there is a plan no one knows about for soccer to use the field. I just can't see that happening, because when (and IF) the school starts pouring money back into field upkeep, the current facility is a great pitch to play on.

My money would be on the turf being laid down being large to be used for soccer should special events warrant such a need.

The FieldTurf will cover the stadium completely wall-to-wall and end-to-end. That nasty slippery red asphalt is finally going to be covered up! At this time, there are no plans for soccer to use Williams though.
