He's beaten an FBS opponent (App State), he's won the auto-bid from the Big South conference, he's gotten us into playoffs, we beat an in-state non-conference opponent, we beat JMU, we won a playoff game, and we'll end the season ranked. He doesn't deserve a life-time contract (no one does), but can some of you at least admit that you were wrong in calling for him to be fired? If some of you already admitted that, I apologize for not having the time to read through everything yet.
Find one place where anyone said that he should be fired. This keeps coming up, but I haven't found one quote yet.

You don't have to say, "Liberty should fire Gill" verbatim to insinuate that you want him fired.

I believe there was even a thread started prior to the season, about how Gill could be on the hot seat if he doesn't make playoffs. I would have been fine having that discussion if we missed playoffs, at the end of the season. But my comments are directed at the ones who wanted that discussion before the end of the season.
I for one said verbatim that I DID NOT WANT GILL FIRED. I said i was concerned. and I was. We all are entitled to our opinion on the matter. This is a message board. Thats what this place is for. Voicing opinions.

Ummmm, okay. I wasn't even referring to your comments in particular. For what it's worth, I didn't even think of your comments when I wrote that.

Just from talking to people, I think LU's bid was somewhere near $100K, though Jeff won't tell me the exact number and doesn't have to since the school is private. FOIA is worthless in that regard for me. I can't imagine it was anywhere near $200K.

I think our bid was $200,677.25 :P

If I remember correctly , $ 30,000 of that was from LU Fans , AT LEAST.

1500 tickets at 20$ a pop.

No. Gross intake - Bid - costs of putting game on (pay employees, etc) = -150K

I don't recall ever seeing a letter quite like that one. And it confirmed all of our earlier suspicions about the process. Essentially they overpaid simply because they could not handle the thought of traveling to Williams Stadium for a playoff game. And they knew that was a strong possibility.

Yikes. That was quite a letter. He must have expected a crazy backlash before writing something like that.

Oh, and hahahaha!

As much as we would have loved to have hosted, in hindsight, it was great fun traveling there, seeing some snow on the drive up, and beating them at their place!

I agree Jim. The trip up there, dominating their crowd, and beating their team is a memory I will NEVER forget.

And that us the strangest letter. he should have just released the bid and hushed. Just strange. Make no mistake that they will be gunning for us in the Bill next year. But let's do it again. Gonna be big.

Not to mention towards the end of the year I felt better about the way the team responds to road games more than home games...as odd as that sounds.

Not really odd at all...we seem to have an attitude that, because we are at home, we can just go out and win every game by 40 in conference, and we havent had a margin that large in quite a while

Did anyone record the JMU/Liberty game? I went to the game but did not record it. I would love to watch it again. If anyone could make me a copy please PM me!

Thanks!
