How has NotAJerry not foed sweat already? Didn't I get foed by him for simply disagreeing over his mike brown bashing?

Sweat, you can't just call people idiots on here. Perhaps intellectually challenged would be better.

Also, you are making a pretty dumb argument sweat.

I'm not just calling people idiots on here. However, NotAJerry deserved every bit of it and if it offends him, I don't care.

My argument about the B1G academics isn't a big deal to me. I may very well be wrong about it, although I do know that their standards aren't high. However, my argument is that you don't need prior FCS success or good academics to have a quality FBS football team. How is that a dumb argument?

What exactly is the study going to do? I'm assuming they will look at facilities. Will they also be looking at the financial part of the school? What else will they look at?

Not completely pointless. Academic standards (which go hand-in-hand with admissions) do play some role, most importantly when it comes to conference affiliation. Some conferences (at least, the good ones) will hesitate before adding in a school with a lackluster academic reputation. That's why Memphis has had a difficult time finding a conference during this entire realignment carousel. Heck, even some Pac-12 commissioners had reservations about adding in Oklahoma and OSU because they weren't affiliated with some national college academic group.

This whole time I thought it was because Memphis' football sucked.

However, yes, academics do make a difference. It was one of the primary reasons why the ACC wouldn't consider West Virginia, and why the PAC-12 wasn't set on full steam ahead for a PAC-16 this season when OSU and TT were a part of the deal. I'm also not certain if the B1G would've taken Nebraska had then been voted out of the AAU before the B1G decided to expand.

For the record to my knowledge WVU never wanted to join the ACC. And if I'm wrong, the fans sure as heck didn't want to either.

It's just their Marshall inferiority complex. You know what they say: if you can't go to college, go to Marshall!

I for one am not super jazzed about the move. FCS is still won and lost on the field. Would you rather have a great season in the FCS and get into the tournament with a chance to run the table and win the national championship. Or would your rather have a great season and win the Sunbelt conference and have a chance to play Northern Illinois in the GoDaddy.com bowl. Frankly I have no desire to ever travel to the Beef O Brady's bowl but I would have been at the Fargodme this past weekend if we were playing North Dakota State.

Having Liberty be a bigger name brand nationally doesn't effect the way I follow and root for them. At the FCS level every game matters. It's not like that at the FBS, unless your playing in a BCS conference then your just part of the sideshow. Nothing to win or lose.

But a bigger brand name nationally will do a heck of a lot for this University. Whether or not it changes anything for you, great, but it is pretty selfish to look at it through your eyes only.

Also tell that to Houston...very relevant team in CUSA this year and just got an invite to the Big East..we have to start somewhere to eventually get to the BCS.

Wrong BJ. I look at it through the eyes of -

1. What is best for the University?
2. How best to accomplish the vision?
3. Considering our goals, how best to reach them?

If the goal here were a small Christian school you wouldn't hear anything from me about FBS aspirations.
