Now these are some answers I was wondering about. Option offense? Meh, not a fan but it's effective. Interesting though since I assumed he was a QB guy. 3-4 defense? Again? Crud. Maybe he's got a coordinator who can make it work at this level.

Friend of mine at work is a K-State alum and a hard core K-Sate fan ..... keeps up with football in that part of the country. When I mention Gill to him he laughed. Pretty much said the same thing as Jayhawktravis when he stopped laughing??? .... just his option though?

Gill did not inhetit Utopia as far as a roster is concerned, that is not the issue. The year before Gill arrived Ku graduated several great players, including on of the best qbs in school history. The team should have been stocked full from recruits off the Ob season, but it appears MM failed to take advantage. Still, there were decent enough players to not get embarrassed every week. MM last year was also harmful in that there was a season long fued between mm and the AD.

The thing that Gill had that no other coach at Ku had in school history was 100 cooperation and zero road blocks from the administration. Gill had top of the line facilities and a school committed to football from the start of his tenure. Ku threw
Money at gill and into the program. Not only did they over pay gill by over a million a year, they guaranteed it for 5 years to make almost impossible to fire gill. But the D was not done, they basically went out and paid top dollar for his staff, paying almost 2 million just to buy him 2 front line recruiters.

Gill was given every tool one could possibly expect and more, heck he has way more to work with than Ksu just down the road (10-2 last year). It took failure of epic proportions to drive ku into the ground this far and that is exCtly what Gill did.

Losses did not cost the job. He was only expected to win between 2 to 5 games. It was how they lost, often giving up by the 2nd or 3 rd quarter and setting records in futility that did it. And not one sign of improvement, it was actually getting worse.

I've heard some whispers that Gill may be a candidate for the offensive coordinator opening at Auburn, not that Malzahn is gone. That would an interesting job choice for Gill, Malzahn was making over $1 million at Auburn as the OC.

It's not like the Air Force triple option or anything. It's pretty much a rehash of Osborne's I-Option nebraska offense that Gill ran as a player.

I'd say, with our quarterbacks, it's going to be hard to run the option. Not so sure about the 3-4 defense either. That shouldn't have a huge impact on whether we hire Gill or not. But it's going to be something to think about, especially with our future FBS plans.

I think we need to get to that point, haha. Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if Gill's name comes up for Auburn OC and Pitt HC.

If we had Josh or Gabe running the show I think we could make good things happen with the option. One of the first keys to being a good option team is having a QB who is a threat to run or pass. Second you need a good fullback who can sell the fake or take the dive depending on what the defense shows. Third you need running backs who can not only power for the extra yards, but can turn on the jets in the open field (Georgia Tech is a good example of that). I think we have those ingredients in place and if we went with that, we could be an even MORE dangerous team

What you're referring to is a triple-option, which is not what Gill runs. From what I saw of Kansas they mainly ran a single back option where the QB is shotgun pretty much always. Which is FAR from the Paul Johnson-esq Georgia Tech, Navy, Wofford style of option.

Sounds like a promising coach ;( please do you homework here and don't rush this decision!!! If half of this is true - we are in for a few long years...

Im pretty sure that they have...we need to trust that Mr Barber and everyone involved with this process knows what they are doing (which is why they are the ones making this decision and we arent)

I'm fairly certain taking spy photos of people while they're praying is a sin.

We're really pulling out all the stops taking him to Olive Garden.

He's a big fan of endless salad and breadsticks, that's actually what we're paying him.

I don't know if this is supposed to be a joke or if you really think it's him. I doubt he'd be somewhere w/o Barber. Could be wrong though.

Are you kidding me? Man, Flame Fans never ceases to amaze me. The coaching search barely got out of Barbers mouth and TG's name was already posted (which is said to be just because its an obvious candidate, not because of inside info...still impressive). Then flight plans get pulled...my family has been in the aviation business for decades and this still didnt cross my mind as a way for people to verify.

NOW we're getting photos???? So creepy but still crazy how accurate these posts are. The sneaky bored out of my mind college student HMO sheds a tear that the torch of espionage has been passed down.

Probably wanted to keep it fairly low key.

Nothing says low key like Olive Garden.
