Just to be clear we could beat Duke. I don't think that is crazy to say at all. They are the annual bottom dweller in the horrible ACC.

Like I used to tell people when we "choked" - at least we were good enough to be considered to be in position to "choke". Some teams are just flat out bad so when they lose - it's never considered a "choke" because everyone knows they stink.

The "choke" thing with Beamer - I don't get it. 6 conference titles in the last 15 years - I'd love to have my head coach 'choke" like that. 6 straight 10 win seasons - there are about 115 D-I schools that wish they could "choke" at that level. :>) There have been some bad losses - but also some good wins. Quite a few wins when Tech wasn't favored - is that a "reverse choke"?

Beamer needs to "choke" away his offensive coordinator - but if he "chokes" his way to another 10 win season and "chokes" to another ACC title I bet most Tech fans would take that. I would probably "choke" myself laughing - especially since the ACC blue bloods predicted Tech could never compete in the ACC.

No one said we should beat Duke, just that it's not extremely unlikely and that it wouldn't be a miracle to win. I don't think there's a single FCS team in the country that I would be shocked if we beat. I feel the same about the bottom 1/3 of FBS.

Beating Duke would be tougher than you think. They won 4 games two years ago - won 5 last year. Cutcliffe has done a good job recruiting and they are getting better players - they are better than they were 3 years ago. I'm not saying it's impossible to beat Duke - but I would consider Duke a bigger win than Ball State (no offense to the classy BSU people that posted here) if we ever beat them.

Exactly. Just because it's a program we laugh at, any ACC team is worlds ahead of the MAC. G-W's win over Akron should prove this 100 fold. The ACC is a different monster, as is the SEC or the Big 12/10 Pac10/12. And I'd like to see us regularly beat teams we're supposed to beat before we start setting up BCS games because we "should be able to win them". In fact, I'd prefer an all FCS non-conf. and see us win them before I would like to see a paycheck against an ACC school.

exactly. Duke is still pretty bad, but look at when Richmond played them. They barely got by, and those Richmond players happen to have a nice looking ring on their fingers.

Richmond had beaten them the year before so I was salivating at the mouth..but then they hired an all new coaching staff and we were their first game.

Didn't Richmond beat them twice like 3 or 4 years apart? Pretty sure it wasn't the same players...
