The early signing period begins December 20 and, as you can see from Coach Dailey's Twitter account, they are already on the road recruiting. That and the lack of any signals from the mountaintop tells me that we won't see any changes this year.

If the 2nd part proves true that will be mind boggling.

I get why Gill stays on even if I don't necessarily like it. But some kind of change needs to happen to at least give the appearance to folks that this season was not acceptable.
Gill feels he has the right staff in place.

He is Jerry's boy.

What is terrible is the school still hasn't released any kind of statement stating that Turner Gill has their support. If nothing was being done than something should of been put out before Thanksgiving break. It only hurts the program even more by not doing that.

This was at least the second time this guy should have been fired. I guess we are trying to get the program back to Karcher status before we start to fix things.
That would still take several years

THose who reference the Karcher yars lightly should recognize what a colossal disaster the program was during those years in spite of a some individual athletes that were more than FBS ready.

While there should be frustration towards Jerry for not wanting to spend the money when his friend is involved, there should also be frustration towards Barber. This is likely a direct result of the contracts he gave this staff.

Maybe those around the campus need to do like they did in Knoxville last night. If Gill stays the worse this program is going to get and the worse it gets, the harder it will be to get a decent coach to replace him.

We are not far from slipping into that now. Wait until we win 2-3 games next year. We will go to begging for 1 quarter of fury.

I thought they were on one year deals or that some of their deals were up after this year. Apparently we thought wrong.

What they did in Knoxville was a travesty, and that's assuming their objections were honestly due to the third-party hearsay that supposedly linked Schiano to the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal. I don't believe that was the real reason they freaked out, but it covered their idolatry of the Tennessee football program in a veneer of sanctimony that, in their eyes, justified their mob behavior.

I am still not convinced that there will be no changes to the staff at all. Do I believe that we need an overhaul on the defensive side of the ball from a coaching perspective. . . YES! Coach Wimbo is a fine Christian, but its time for him to go. The defense hasn't even been average the last 3 seasons and to the eye test, it looks like they have gotten worse. We were literally 1 of the worst D's in FCS!! Now, for those of you that are still having a temper tantrum over Gill staying, can we please move on for the sake of unity on this board and support for the team and Gill. Sure, I get it that your frustrated about the product on the field but let's remember Gill hasn't even come close to sinking the ship that is LU football.

Last thing I promise :). Some on this board are SO SURE ABOUT NEXT SEASON'S 2 TO 3 WIN SEASON. But how do you know that will actually happen. Predictions are wrong ALL the time. Think about game 1 of this season, Baylor was predicted to humiliate us by some huge number. Yet, we won! Same went for Howard University and their upset win. Now, I know even when I or anyone else predicts something there is a really good chance anyone of us could be wrong. But for fun lets take an objective look at next seasons schedule:

Home- ODU: who finished (5-7), who gave up 32 points a game!!! Prediction: We can win this one.
Away - Army: who sits at (8-3), and runs our FAVORITE kind of offense. Prediction: Loss.
Home- Norfolk St. : who finished (4-7) FCS team, need I say more. Prediction: WIN!!!
Home - North Texas: who sits at (9-3) and are playing for conference title. Prediction: Loss.
Away - New Mexico: who finished (3-9), who gave up 32 points a game!! Prediction: We can win.
Away - New Mexico St.: who sits at (5-6), Sunbelt team and we own them. Prediction: We can win.
Home- Troy: Who sits at (9-2), the class of the Sunbelt. Prediction: More than likely a loss.
Home- Idaho St.: who finished (4-7) and gave up 36 points a game. Prediction: WIN!!!
Away - UMASS: who sits at (4-7) and who barely beat maine and Coastal. Prediction: WIN!!!
Away - UVA: who finished (6-6) and who is getting better each year! Prediction: LOSS!
Away - Auburn: Who sits at (10-2) and may be the best team in College Football. Prediction: Destruction!
Home - New Mexico St.: See Previous Game. Prediction: WIN!!

I know we can't look into a crystal ball, but there IS NO WAY Gill leads us into the era of Karcher football. Gill is a much better coach than Karcher. Gill actually won games and NEVER had a losing season at LU.

I honestly think we could win as many as 7 games next year. However, I also think we could win as few as 4. I have a REALLY hard time believing we only beat the FCS schools.

Gill can’t even produce 7 wins against FCS opponents.

Not an attempt to throw you under the bus or anything, but do you have a source? There’s been so much posted in this thread that was a “definite” that I’m don’t trust anything without a legit source.

I am sure Barber is to blame for some of this mess but football is Jerry's baby.

I don’t often doubt his Sources.

Let’s see what another year of Buck and GG look like. Hope the OL gets some help. But the biggest question will Be The D

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it’s still a pig. No matter how you try to spin next year, Tuner Gill apparently will still be the coach. No matter what kind of year Buckshot will have, no matter how improved the OL or DL improves, Turner Gill will still be the same underachieving coach that he’s always been. And that is a very depressing thought.
