The last game isn't necessarily an away game.

It could be. I have no insider stuff on this one (and wouldn't tell you if I did) but the last game could be home or away. Nowhere does it say that seven home games isn't possible.

Man, you might be replaced as my favorite insider

Okay, for those in the know, this is what I understand is the 08 schedule thus far.

Is this still set and what else seems to be in the works to close things out?

There are still some teams down Fla way that could be good match ups for us; UCF, FAU, FIU

North Greenville - H
Stony Brook - H
Elon - H
Gardner Webb - H
Charleston Southern - H
Western Carolina - A
Youngstown State - A
Presbyterian - A
Coastal Carolina - A
VMI - A

That leaves one game that could go either way. Some I-AA/FCS schools schedule 12 games if Im not mistaken (I know all the I-A/FBS schools schedule 12 and in conferences with a championship game 13)

Florida would be cool. Maybe we could play down at UCF one year...
We did that about five years ago...I think the score was 70-3.

Your schedule looks about right, and it's rumored we will play NC Central at home as well.

saw this on the AGS board...and though I look to find the article, and here it is...

One piece that needs to be filled in is the schedule. Originally, Liberty was supposed to be the foe for the season-opener on Sept. 6.

But Liberty, which hosted the Mountain Hawks in 2004, will not be going to Bethlehem.

So are we pretty well set as to who we are playing or is that something that still needs to be ironed out? I was perusing a site for one of the AGS posters and noticed that Rhode Island has 09/06 open (I think somebody mentioned, Im not sure if it was here or on AGS of our attempts to play Richmond in 08...they have not locked in their schedule for 08 so I would like to see a home and home with them for 08 and 09 at least...)

That's not the order of the schedule. The order (as far as I'm aware) is:

30-Aug North Greenville
6-Sep North Carolina Central
13-Sep @ Western Carolina
20-Sep
27-Sep @ Youngstown St.
4-Oct
11-Oct @Presbyterian
18-Oct Charleston Southern
25-Oct @ VMI
1-Nov Gardner Webb
8-Nov Stony Brook
15-Nov @Coastal Carolina
22-Nov Elon

One of those open dates should be filled in, and is yet to be determined who it will be.

Note: I'm not sure the order of the conference games though.

Aug 30 - NGU
Sept 06 - Open (this will likely be filled)
Sept 13 - @ WCU
Sept 20 - NC Central
Sept 27 - @ YSU
Oct 04 - Open (this will likely stay open)
Oct 11 - Stony Brook
Oct 18 - @ PC
Oct 25 - CSU
Nov 01 - GWU
Nov 08 - @ VMI
Nov 15 - @ CCU
Nov 22 - Elon

I would prefer us playing Richmond or a 1A team like from the MAC or the Sunbelt conference for the remaining game. Not a great schedule by any means but some improvement over last year but I guess some of it is unavoidable being in the weak conference that we are in right now. God forbid we schedule another division 2 team for that open date.

If we were able to get Richmond, this would be a very good schedule for us.

We have 6 games for OOC. Out of these 6, 1 should be a D2, 1 a low DIAA, and the other four should be from the CAA, Southern, etc. We will be playing Youngstown St and Elon who should both be in the top 20 if not higher and WCU which at the time we scheduled them weren't horrible. I like the looks of our schedule especially if we were able to nail down Richmond.

We will not be playing Richmond in '08 unless there is some major revamping of the schedule which I don't see happening. Both of our open dates, they already have filled.

I just did some looking around to see who has Sep 6 open as well, and so far I've found Maine, Northeastern, Rhode Island, and Villanova.

We have six conference games. You can't whine about those.

We play Elon (top 15 next year) and YSU (possibly Top 10 next year).

We play at Western Carolina, who, if they ever found a coach, could be decent. They had the athletes, just not the coaching. Sound familiar?

We play a DII to start the season. In a 12 game schedule, that's not problem at all.

We have our weak FCS school in NC Central.

I don't see how you're complaining about this schedule. You obviously want us to play this insane non-conference schedule which would give us little or no shot of getting into the playoffs without an auto-bid.

I would've liked to have seen the series with W&M renewed, but know that its not going to happen.

Anyway, a low I-A from the MAC or Sunbelt would be my choice, but I'd definitely welcome one of the CAA teams with that date open.

I like the idea of playing someone who we may be competing for a playoff birth with, i.e. CAA, SOCON, etc.

Agreed, but there are not that many teams with holes at that point. It's a matter of finding someone like that with a free date the same as ours. Somebody do the research and give us some possible fits.
