It is fantastic that Jacob has opportunities! We all would love to see an offer come from us post haste. But you are going to enjoy the next few weeks. Fargo has an incredible program and Missoula as a city will blow you away. I can give you a great deal of lowdown on that trip.

Yes, that would be something if he was good enough in the eyes of a multiple time championship winner, but not even able to barely sniff an offer from 1st ever playoff time LU. Again wherever the kid lands hope he does well. I guess a good question to ask is who are the qbs the have been signed since HCTG arrived. I can only think of Masha, n Swanson

Thank you guys! He is really digging Cedar Falls...so, I guess you can say he isn't hard to please. Haha. I am just enjoying spending some one/one time with him. UNI new OC has really rolled out the red carpet for him and took him on a tour of the place. This is definitely a unique place for sure. Too far away from home...but, whatever makes him happy. It's still early but with him being an early graduate, the time to pick is fast approaching. Thanks for all the well wishes. I will definitely pass them along to him. He is meeting Coach Farley tomorrow after church.

If I were the coach recruiting your son Hooks, I absolutely would have jumped at extending an offer. He fits the offense, amazing talent, which would please PH and SJ. He fits on the field, which is cool with me. He fits off the field...but, I'm not the coach, so its all message board banter. While I'm disappointed, I'm not as quick to throw them under the bus as forbidden may be. Whatever coach Dailey's reason(s) is/are, while they may not be good ones, at least he has reasons.

Anyway, I'm hopeful that we do extend an offer here late in the going since he will be graduating early

Trust me I know the coach's look at this board, and I say it has zero bearing of offering a kid. My awkward way of looking at things since iv'e been through this with football and the ladies when I was younger. They know that the kid and the family would love for him to be at LU along with all of us. So could it be that they know they can shoot for the stars and if they miss they have a fall back? All the schools do it, Don't know how many different times Nick moved up the pecking order at VA and MD but no offer. After he committed to Liberty they started calling more often asking for film during his senior season. They both knew he would have jumped as soon as they offered, So he pretty much let them know if you didn't need me then you don't need me now. Just remember there is real love and fake love, pretty easy to tell the difference. Ronnie

I'd think a dad saying how the staff is going to miss on his kid on a public message board is something that doesn't necessarily make said coaching staff want to recruit said player more than they already are.

Doesn't hv to be the dad saying it, I'm sure anyone can look up his profile when it's all said and done and figure out if they missed. All the interest and or actual offers will be listed once it's truly official. Bottom line again to me, is even tho we may not be the ones pulling the trigger we can all still hv an opinion, whether they like it or not, and it's also true that they are human and make mistakes too. So to say or act like all there decisions are the right ones are def not right. Wonder if said kid goes to another school n beats LU with said kid at QB would it be wrong for said dad to still feel same way.

They make mistakes all the time. But coaches don't like helicopter parents. I'm not saying this guy is one, but it really looks like he's trying to dictate his son's recruiting on a message board.

Why would it be wrong, because it would a slap in the face and a big il I told you so. A kid we let slip away, that we didn't have to. Once the season starts and it's game week you know as well as I do that
Trash talking will commence. You want him to be the bigger man and have a slice of humble pie, while we sit over here and be able to try and say I told you so, we didn't need the kid this and that. Same sort of thing happened when we just played Terrance Irvin from NSU last year. Just wasn't a parent involved but it was sure hot on this board because he was a former recruit and commit.

All I'm saying is it's not like many Kids are jumping at the bit to come to LU, so the few that do REALLY show interest, I think you should show maybe just a little more attention to. But, that's just my opinion. We throw enough Hail Mary's out there that never are even gonna come to fruition that putting one to a kid that really wants to be here for one that is only using this for a fallback, just isn't right.

Apples and oranges really...I'll bow out and leave it to the more knowledgeable posters to comment further and leave it at that.

Giving a Scholly to a kid that isnt as highly rated, or doesnt have the skill set as some of the other potential candidates, just isnt right to the fan base either.

Just because the kid WANTS to be here, doesnt make him qualified. Its all hit and miss, but your questioning Coach Daley and Coach Gill's assessment of these boys talent ? They have someone else ranked higher. You belaboring the point, and having Coaches and nerds like myself point out that Jacob just isnt as talented according to the coaches, your making it worse.

Ill say this, and its proven that he is just as qualified as some of the other kids who will NEVER step foot on this campus, that were given "offers" they are just given Hail Mary's to say there name was included in his list of suitors. This is all subjective to the individual that's true. Maybe you could enlighten us to what this kid may be missing as opposed to some of the other kids whose little bit of film we all see is same film coaches assess to. I have repeatedly said its my opinion and I am not the one pulling the trigger on the deal. Its also been said that the situation could be they are using him as a fallback, and that's not right either.

A kid who WANTS to be here is different than a kid to HAS to be because he has no place else to go, and takes the offer is really working out for LU how. One couldn't hack the work ethic needed and the other went back as well because they couldn't hack it, and ended up in trouble. So your upset that someone is questioning the coaches assesment of talent, well isn't that what happens just about every saturday evening after a kickoff. If it is not a kids talent its a coaches decision right.

I am probably the furthest thing from a helicopter dad. I would never in a million years question your coaches ability to assess talent. I was just giving everybody an update on where/what/how his personal recruitment has been progressing. My only mistake was probably sharing his personal feelings about Liberty. He absolutely loves everything about LU and really likes Coach Dailey. There is zero hard feelings or sour grapes at all. I have tremendous respect for the the effort your coaches are making to bring in the very best players to LU. These decisions literally have their future employment impacted and they are killing themselves trying to make LU a national power. I sincerely wish them nothing but the best of luck. That isn't an easy job. No matter what happens, I am going to continue rooting for the Flames.

Jacob will be fine and he will land in a good place. I never intended to ever question any decision they make when handing out offers. Jacob is extremely blessed to have the attention of some nice football programs right now. QB position is a tough position to evaluate and it's so critical to the future success of any program. Some coaches see things that others don't and vice versa. It's not personal to me. It's a business and your coaches are the professional eyes of evaluation for LU. They will offer who they think can win football games. More power to them! They will eventually bring in the best players they can. Same deal with every other program in the country. Again, not personal nor my business to who they choose. If they strike out with those guys, I am sure Jacob would certainly listen to LU. But, he's got to carry on like that won't happen. If it does, I will be happy. If it doesn't, I will still be happy. No helicopter propellers here. Lol

Hooks, I agree completely. Sometimes people get worked up a bit because of their love for LU and don't see things as clearly as they should. I have found myself in that situation more than once. I have 100% faith in our coaching staff, only they know the reason for what they do, everything else is purely speculation. I appreciate you giving/sharing your perspective on things, it is enlightening for sure and you show class in your posts. I never took it as hovering, etc. it is not easy to share the things you do. I for one respect where you are coming from and I am hoping that things work out for your son and for LU in this situation, regardless of where Jacob goes. I am still holding out hope he is in a Flames uni next fall. Good luck to you and Jacob on this journey and keep us informed as much as you wish to share.

Thank you Flameshaw. We will keep our faith in God and continue our bounty through Christ. His future, no matter where it may be, will be accepted as a gift from our savior. God is good all of the time. God will be with him at UNI or Bucknell or Liberty. He will carry his faith to any one of these places and that's what gives me peace. When you keep him first, the venue really is insignificant. Good things will happen soon.
