Yes. Only at LU games do Officials ever make a call that makes 0 sense. Especially, considering all of our fans know every rule and have the exact same angle as the official making the call.

SuperJon wrote:Our fans whine like crazy. That's a given.

With that said, apart from students who will be students, most of our fans are polite to others.
I think we treat visiting fans with tremendous hospitality and respect

Every sporting event I've been at the fans complain when a call is made against their team. I can't recall a lot of fans that have sat there and said, "Hmmm, well I suppose that's a good call."

Even when fans know it's a solid call, they'll complain that the call wasn't made against the other team or complain because they got caught doing it.

It's the nature of sporting events.

As a Sacramento Kings fan, don't get me started on the 2002 Western Conference Finals... Play Basketball

Well look at the end of the CCU game and tell me those calls they were "trying" to make had sense to them. Some fans do know the rules, maybe not all but some do, maybe even better than the refs apparently. Some of the PI's calls from saturday were just as bad, not if it is a penalty ill be the first to surely say yes they committed the crime and the penalty reflects it.

This is one problem. Another major problem is the fusion of a martyr complex or persecutory delusion with entitlement.

That's laughable. Sure there are some bad eggs and sometimes some of the players family members are not Christians and say and do some things that I wouldn't do personally. Some students are just immature. The overwhelming majority are respectful and laid back. I've been to 12 different college game days at different places and the worst as far as trash talk was at Harrisonburg. The half mile walk to the stadium was filled with drunk fans shouting derogatory comments about lu. So what, man up and smile and keep walking. As far as complaining about calls that just ignorant. The next time I go to a game anywhere that a fan base likes a call that goes against them will be the first.

JMUandLU wrote:Ok. full disclosure: I am a JMU grad and hold 2 master's degrees from LU and am currently working on my doctorate there. I am in Lburg most semesters for intensives, and my wife is a LU grad. I am impressed with the upgrade to facilities and all of the building projects. I am friends with several profs and admin who I believe are great folks. I have been disappointed at times with the leadership at JMU and felt like LU's admin has done a better job of vision casting in regard to athletics. I have attended a few athletic events at LU and sat in the LU section last time they were in Hburg. Here is my take: they are by far the least gracious, crudest, and most incorrigible fans next to Oduh. We love to talk some smack at JMU, and a few fans will cross the line at times. But LU fans whine at literally every call; their banter goes well beyond the game and becomes the stuff of a junior high locker room (bodily function smack talk type stuff, wich went over well with my wife and then middle school aged youngest daughter). They freely use the Lord's name in vain and simply make the game no fun. Perhaps I have simply been in proximity to the few bad apples, and I know there are some great people there. For these reasons, I do not intend to ever support LU athletics. Your fandom is the worst.

I went to a JMU game once,

some JMU fans said that they like to eat babies.

all JMU fans are therefore cannibals

ergo your fans suck

I chortle audibly.
I remember that! Just remember the NBA is about Entertainment first basketball second!

But you make my point. All fans complain. Calls are missed all the I've. But for some reason LU fans take them as a personal slight and the result of Secular Humanists, Liberals and Main Stream Media conspiring against them.

Plus this...

I've noticed that. I think some of that is due to the fact that fans of other institutions often malign Liberty's conservative or Christian values which, in many LU fan's eyes = "They are treating us this way because we're Christian."

When it really is more "They are treating us this way because we are the opponent and will find anything they can to single us out."

But from a big picture perspective, there are so many fans from different clubs that go through life with a chip on their shoulder (not unique to Liberty) who will always feel like they are being treated unfairly. I can't tell you the number of Raider fans I know that feel their team gets picked on, etc.

Hopefully with success like making the playoffs, etc, some folks will realize we impact more of our own destiny than we realize.

Regardless of who wins Saturday, the Sept. 26 game at home versus JMU will have a little added to it, as one of will be seeking revenge for being ousted from the playoffs. Should be fun.

Tomorrow at this time we will be playing football. Can not wait. I have a sister that went to JMU and a uncle who used to work there and a sister & aunt that work there now. Reading the local back home yesterday it doesn't look like they give us much of a chance all of the local sport writers picked JMU.

Watching this Commonwealth Bowl makes me think Masha Needs 65% of the snaps tomorrow !!!! I hope both QB's are healthy but.....We need a clutch win and Masha seems to young and dumb/smart to let the situation hurt his game!!!
