SJ and FFG, have the insight from their student roles with Rocco, they have it figured out, its not getting any better, Gills not the right guy.

We only win Saturday if " a miracle rains from heaven".

Why cant you wait one week before showering us with your insider info ? This season isnt over, and I for one am questioning your motives with all the hate.

This may be the most unorganized post you read all day, so forgive me while I stand on my soapbox. Also, this may be the most loyal (homer) post you read all day. There, you had your warning...

It's the moment before you get punched in the face... you see it coming and brace for impact. That's SJ and FFGs stance on this Saturday. They know all too well how things have gone in the past, so they are embracing for what they believe is about to happen based on a pattern.

I can see where they are coming from and do not fault either one of them for pointing out "facts" or "feelings".

However, I do not agree with them. I am an eternal optimist. I see (as Purple has stated before) half a cup. Mine is just full. We have had our "typical Liberty" games this year - see Ind St and CSU - but we have also done the untypical Liberty thing, and that was winning an FBS game that had some significance. I understand that App isn't UNC, nor are they much better than Ball State, but it was a game that mattered and we (thanks to a missed FG) came up with the W. That's a very unLiberty thing for us to do.

We have won big games in the past that haven't mattered - see SB win 28-14 - because we were already out of the playoff picture. We were depending on the committee. We have also lost the big games that matter, so who the heck cares about patterns?

Trends and patters only matter until you break them. Gill was perfect in November, nobody cares about that anymore. Toman couldn't beat Coast to save his life, or his kids lives, or anyone else's lives for that matter. But that changed. We, Liberty, did it. And the timing could not have been more perfect as we went on to the Regionals and whooped up on Clemson... twice.

How about basketball? Sure they may still be bad, idk yet for this season, but they broke a pattern of losing and went to the NCAA tournament 2 years ago. NOBODY saw that coming.... and for the 1-2 that think you did, you didn't.

My point? We have an amazing football team full of incredible talent with a darn good football coach that will break a pattern. I understand 5% of this board might actually agree with that statement (maybe less), but I don't think we have had as talented a team as we do now since Rashad's last year. Definitely not a more balanced team. I do not think Gill is the best coach in the FCS, but he definitely isn't the worst, and he certainly does not deserve to lose his job anytime soon.

Everyone is an expert when voicing their opinion, so everyone has good points to make because we all see things from different angles. So you can see how Coast will win because of A, B, C and D. But, you can also make the same cases for Liberty. Like baseball, there is not a more perfect time, so with that I say this...

I believe in this team. I believe in this coach. I believe that Liberty will beat Coastal freaking Carolina on Saturday afternoon. And I will scream my lungs out from the 1st quarter until the last second ticks off the clock. I will also be making plans for a trip to Lynchburg or wherever we need to go for our 1st round playoff game. I am excited for Saturday. I am excited for a win. I am excited to be a Liberty fan!

Purple, the fact that you don't see the seriousness in the fact that a group of children almost 50 (maybe more, maybe less) years younger than you hahave a higher level of maturity seriously bothers me. Its a small wonder you a) aren't at Liberty anymore or b) don't have another coaching job with that kind of attitude

Do you really want to play this game? Poke the bear (or in this case :flamingdevil ) once too often and you'll get bit. If it's open season on personal attacks......its on.

As for the topic of the OP, if I had a couple scoreboard shots I'd have a nice "they think they are, but they really are" post
You fired the first shot. I'm just giving you a chance to withdrawl.....

Smart choice. Last warning. Publicly. This is the 3rd or 4th personal attack from you. I've shown a lot of patience with them. That is now over.

(For the record I turned down 3 coaching offers this past season. You also may want to get your information about me from someone other than your former land lord.)

I really can't understand this. if you want to attack me and my credibility fine. but at least get it right.
1."If you ask the Right people the Right questions" Jon and I still have relationships with a lot of people Still working within the athletics department. that being said I've done just that. ASK QUESTIONS. It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that things could be way better.
2.I don't think it is not possible for us to win. I have said this multiple times. I do think it will take one heck of a performance on both sides of the ball in the biggest game of the year. AGAIN something we have a bad track record of not doing.
3. I don't hate anything but losing.
4. I actually like Gill. I like his personality. He seemed like a great fit for us when we first hired him. The issue is that it hasn't translated onto the field yet. and AGAIN as i've said before in this thread I really don't know the answer to solve all this and get over the hump. it would be great for us to prove me wrong. I don't think you understand how bad I REALLY want to be wrong. but I refuse to get my hopes up just to be disappointed again.

Wait till after Saturday, then tell us your Right Questions, and what were the answers ?

Look , I have similar questions, Im not blindly sipping kool aid. I just think its lame that you come on here in the thread of "Why we will beat coastal", and air all your grievances. College sports more than any other sport, is about hope. Hoping that your team will win. Lets be realistic, but why come on here and kill all our vibe in the biggest game week we've had in a long time?

If I cared that much about not being disappointed I don't think I could call myself a fan. Read the definition:

Merriam-Webster, the Oxford dictionary and other sources define it as a shortened version of the word fanatic. The word first became popular in reference to baseball enthusiasts. (Fanatic itself, introduced into English around 1550, means "marked by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion". It comes from the Modern Latin fanaticus, meaning "insanely but divinely inspired". The word originally pertained to a temple or sacred place [Latin fanum, poetic English fane]. The modern sense of "extremely zealous" dates from around 1647; the use of fanatic as a noun dates from 1650.)

Alright guys I get it. I'm not allowed to voice my opinion because it hurts other peoples feelings and kills the mood. Got it. I guess I was wrong about the point of message boards.
Look I want us to win. I don't WANT us to lose. but in MY OPINION(which is something i thought message boards were for) its not looking good. I didn't know it was against the rules to post an unpopular opinion. I'll keep that in mind next time.

Also I got it. I'm not a true fan either. Thanks for the helpful info.

"Always expect the worst and you will never be disappointed" Many consider this to be sage advice, but I'm not sure I want to live that way. The quote is attributed to writer Peter Wastholm, who also said "The best defense against rain is a large clumsy umbrella. Lug it around and it will never rain".
