We all respect what Jeff and his staff has done for this school like I said before, I am a huge Jess Barber supporter!

But are there any vibrant colors that maybe you wouldnt encourage someone to wear? Like some skin tones dont work with some colors and it could just end up in a big mess. It would be a shame to have a pretty girl and a pretty dress get ruined by a color combination disaster.
I'm glad we're on the same page. You should help me pick out next weekend's dress!! :)

As a former Liberty athlete I would just like to say that what we're really getting down to here is fan support. If you ask anyone on basically any team BESIDES football, they would probably tell you that it doesn't matter if the fans are there in red or not, as long as they're there it is appreciated. For example, sports that are "less advertised" in comparison to football, such as, softball, soccer, and cross country. The Liberty men's track team has claimed over 11 Big South titles in the past couple of years ( both indoor and outdoor seasons), including in the 2007-2008 season. In 2007 the Liberty Flames football team wins a Big South title and the entire school goes nuts, meanwhile the LU track and field isn't even mentioned in convo. Or if you really want to get picky about the whole red thing, think about this, if it is our school color then why are all the athletes warm-ups navy blue?

Back to the fan support, those people may not have been wearing red, but I saw them at the game from start to finish. They were sitting behind and screaming for their team even when the scoreboard said 42-10 and the second string was going in. Where was the "sea of red" in the 4th quarter?

If you're going to fight about something or claim to be devoted to the Flames athletic department as a whole then maybe you should realize that football is only a just piece of the puzzle.

Also to any newcomers

There is a certain class of posters called "dummies" whose sole purpose in life is to say random stuff at the end of the day to "make arguements stupid" and stop fighting. Its kind of like EMS but they do a good job. Also we dont have a shrine built for LU players from PA.

Wonder which sport you played. But hey look on the bright side, they didnt call you a paintball team

Multiple reasons: We have two(2) school colors, and blue works good with more skin tones

Except that football is one of the few televised week in week out, the sport that brings the most attention to a school, and the sport that is most popular in the US. So for that, FIFY. Also note the red font goes will with attire at football games.

This thread has been most amusing...Thanks, all.

How about the Great Compromise:

Southern Style can paint their chests  and the LUnatics can wear Sundresses to next week's game...wait, what?

Lilly,

There are two "compromises" that I believe are not outrageous to ask of the Southern Style Football group:

1.) Could the ones that chose to drink before the game, on campus, on the main road, have a little respect and at least do it at home before or after that game? I don't know names, but I'm sure you must. This is far from an outrageous request.

2.) Could Brent encourage the group to wear school-colored dresses, shirts, etc.? Even if it's not red, the other two school colors still shows a little more respect than assorted "vibrant colors." At least one of your group works for the athletic department. Even if you didn't, this still is not an outrageous request.

Do not get upset when being accused of blatantly going against JB, BG and the athletic department. You work for them. You know what the push is. Most of us know the Southern thing is completely innocent, and never had any intention of directly going against the athletic department. However, the fact of the matter is that it does go against what is being promoted and encouraged by them.

I hope you all will continue to be as supportive as you have been, but might consider the two compromises listed above.

And they have the name of their group painted on them instead of the name of the school. *cough* attention whores *cough*

i think its funny that you said the LUnatics were "attention whores" b/c they painted their chests with their own name. Yet people can show up looking like a bag of skittles and they aren't "attention whores" at all.

oh and pretty sure LU is the name of our school.

This may be one of the silliest arguments I have seen on here. I give major props to the students...REGARDLESS OF WHAT THEY WEAR...showing school spirit...IN HOWEVER MEANS THEY CHOOSE. My gosh...3 years ago we were lucky students were not showing up wearing paper bags over their heads.

Lilly/Brent...keep on keeping on...show the spirit...however you want to!

The jist of this whole argument isn't worth my time. The football team needs to start playing on Tuesdays AND Saturdays so you people can have something legit to talk about. However, there is one point I would like to make.

The fact of the matter is, the boys on the team appreciate our support 100% and they know that our full intention is to be there for them. We don't show up to games to please anyone but our team. This discussion is just outrageous and what's even worse is that apparently the student conduct office is now getting involved.

As for ya'll calling BS on JP... He is a player on the team, so stop being ignorant. We love him and love that fact that he supports us (which is the case with most of the guys). We'll cheer our hearts out for them no matter what we are wearing and they understand that best.

We are all fans of the flames, get over what people were wearing and start getting pumped for another win this Saturday!

yeah, I don't doubt he's a player but I doubt coach would be too happy to find out his players are posting with us. I think we're viewed as unclean and annoying.

So I'm a bad fan for wearing a pink sundress to the game, but you can call one of our most talented players an idiot? It's so obvious that you are a great fan.

I can't wait. I love seeing that sea of red and blue... oh and green, pink, purple, orange, magenta, teal, and whatever other non- school color you jackals wear.
