I see two tunnels built in already - one on each side. Visitor team comes out of indoor down the slope and through the east side tunnel and Flames out the west side. You might need to view it from iPad or iPhone to zoom inbut they are there. Technically covered portico and not a tunnel but it appears the logical place for both team entrances. Few stadiums have home team coming out the middle -nearly all come out corner of the end zone

#550828 From that angle, it looks like the east side upper deck is TWICE the size of the west side (Baptist) upper deck. :shock:

#550829 I just love how much smaller (read compact) it looks.

#550832 If they expand the Baptist side tower as much I’m hoping, it’ll create a wall that traps a lot of sound. Closing in the North end zone with new FOC may not do much for crowd noise, but’ll be an amazing final touch to the look of the place. Definitely gonna have something to be proud of when it’s done.

The west upper deck size might be the same as the half of the east upper deck, so that they make a horseshoe for the future.

#550863 I think the new upper deck is the same depth and height as the other side, it's just the the tower takes up half of that side's space. There won't be a tower of any depth on the east side. The outside wall will look similar to the outside of the tower, but all the space will be tucked up under the east side upper deck.

west side stands + tower = east side stands in height and depth.

Um, what?

A lot of people struggle with cardinal directions.

Thoughts when walking through:
1) west upper deck is massive. It’s not even a fair comparison to the east upper deck.
2) 4 separate built in concession stands
3)the berm is stupid steep. I’m not sure people will be sitting on it as much as sliding down it. But it matches perfectly with both the east and west lower seats as far as angle goes, so thinking ahead to a ‘shoe?
4) it feels like a stadium, not a field with seats.

Edit: the asphalt in the first picture is only for commencement, it will be torn out next week.

East is the new side, west is the baptist side.

#551169 Perhaps the Baptist side could be named FlameFans Concourse in honor of all of us Old Hags who sit over there. I hereby nominate the The LUnatics Concourse for the students' side.

#551183 I vote for "A Sea of Red formerly FLAMESNATION President's suite" for Jerry's suite.

May be a bit lengthy but a great way to remind the administration of their pettiness and be petty all at the same time!

Boom.

Done.

No more directions.

I actually thought that was already the unofficial names for each side.

#551203 I don't think there is anything confusing about using Cardinal directions as they are universal. What we need is PAMedic to create a graphic with the directions for those that a reference.

#551206 North = FOC

West = Baptist/Home. East = Student/Visitors

South = Berm

#551207 On another note, commencement was packed. They're saying about 50k. The berm was completely unused. But it looked fantastic filled to the brim.

I think our identities have been revealed to each other.

No, we didn't attend, but we did watch on TV. Twitter had a few pics from families if you search for Liberty University.

I don't see a reason to move it to the lawn. Having worked at UVa's graduation, their lawn is entirely clover. There isn't a hint of grass in the entire stretch. Lawnvo is enough to give the ground crew a heart attack. Adding in 40,000 people to it would be their nightmare. You also can't see anything on the Lawn at UVa. The stadium provides a great setting to seat an appropriate number of guests. If they can fit 50k comfortably, I can't think of a reason to move it.

Empty berm was by design.

Hah!

Obviously it will be general admission. Just wondering if it will be a separate category from other general admission seating (if that still exists).

From the ticket flyer, GA is 5 sections on the Visitors upper deck, the southern most next to the student section, and the berm.

They supposedly corrected that problem. Hard to imagine they would build something they can't use.

Is it bring your own cardboard sled or will those be provided? I'd like to see a ramp just above the band.

They did reduce the grade some but It is still incredibly steep. With even a little moisture on that turf it would likely be too slick for safe use. My personal opinion is they changed the grade more so for preparation to install concrete and seats there down the road. If you look at the berm where it meets concrete on the east and west sides, it is very similar in angle to the current stands. All that would be needed is to pour concrete and construct permanent seats since the dirt work is done.
