I am considering the decimation of Notre Dame this evening and it hit me.,,
An Independent championship game. No requirement to play each other during the year, but a championship square-off none the less.

You might get everyone on board but Notre Dame. They will never ever do it. Also would have to petition the NCAA to allow it. But having it without Notre Dame would be silly anyway.
