The rules are simple:

Post three good things from this game

Post three bad things from this game

Ready?

Go.

(PS -It may be hard to find or limit yourself to three good things and three bad things. That's the game though. You have to find three of both to play.)

The Good

Calvert
He's definitely a freshman, but he gives us hope for the future.

Shells
Great to see him have the night he had.

We made progress
This was less about the score and more about how we played. The final three quarters showed progress.

The Bad

The first quarter
We didn't show up.

Attendance
We didn't show up.

Running game
Whether it's the offensive line, the running backs, or the game plan, we had no running game.

Good
1- win
2- The offense looks to buy in/believe in Calvert which bodes well for the season and can make up for some holes
3 - Probert hits 2 long FG's

Bad
1. My XBox keeps losing wifi signal. Really pisses me off
2. Attendance. I thought it would be down but under 12,500 is shocking
3. Probert misses a chippy FG

I was unable to watch the game due to watching Alabama, and our wifi isn't strong enough to run two games at the same time. But i could keep track of it on my phone.

The Good:
1. Calvert's performance and tremendous upside.
2. The defense giving up only 68 yards total from quarters 2 to 4 after giving up 134 in the first quarter.
3. Two weeks to rest our offensive line and fix the running game.

The Bad:
1. Offensive line play
2. Attendance
3. Not being able to watch the game

Good:

1. Stephen Buckshot Calvert

He finally got the proverbial keys to the car tonight and played well. He did have some throws that made you want to shake your head but his deep shots were a thing of beauty. There is a ton of potential for a very special player for the next 3.5 seasons

2. Defense

After getting hit in the mouth in the first quarter, they adjusted and responded as they should have and dominated the rest of the way...and Jalloh and Turner both with Sportscenter quality interceptions tonight as well

3. Alex Probert

I see you kid! hit a career long 47 yard field goal...and then upped that career high with a 51 yarder that probably would have been good from 55 (60 would have been pushing it though)

Bad:

1. Running game
After being so high on them, they have been virtually nonexistent the last two games. Also...30 combined carries, none of them to the outside? We are not going to be able to just run up the middle against everyone we are matching up with going forward...we NEED to use outside runs and sweeps on the edges to stretch the defense making for an easier go in the middle.

2. Offensive line play
This could be tied to the running game as well but these guys really need to do some serious work if we are going to be able to run and keep Calvert upright in the conference schedule

3. McGinty's celebration on the pick 6

Really? Act like you've been there before bud...

Doesn't mean he still can't act like it...get excited for a TD sure, but no need to showboat...run the ball in, hand it to the ref and get ready to go back out there.

The official did a good job on that. He would have been right to flag him, but I think the way Wimbledon handled it stayed the Ref's hand

Good
Play calling.
Buckshot
LFSN halftime show

Bad
Arm tackling
Why would you sit in the lower level when the upper deck was empty. You can see so much better up there.
Defensive players jogging to the ball.

3. the weather

BAD

2. Robert Morris after they scored the first touchdown
3. nachos (just kidding--I've got nothing for #3)

McGinty was very apologetic about his celebration in the postgame.

Unprompted he said: "I was selfish on the celebration, I shouldn't have did that. I was in the wrong state of mind. I take ownership of that. I was selfish on that play, that's not how Liberty football is. I apologize for that."

Later he asked reporters if he still had a butt. When asked why he told them 'Because it got chewed out by Wimbo '

Good:

QB Play was good
Passing game was good but would be better with more than one receiver available on roll outs
Weather was AWESOME!

Bad:
Masha- Body Language Terrible
Masha never moved out of the same spot when on offensive
Masha never celebrated with the team after Offensive score or defensive INT or big play

Team Captains are Team players. If you are pouting for losing your position and don't want to celebrate or pull for your teammates then don't dress out. I watched him all night just to see how he would respond with being benched and I was disappointed. Every game Buckshot was celebrating with teammates on Offense and Defense. The Jacksonville game he and Masha did some kind of jump the air celebration when Masha was doing well in that game. Didn't see that for Buckshot last night.

Good :

Buckshot with the accuracy and arm talent we haven't ever seen here before.
Blue Red Red, Color rush Uniforms
ESPN3 game availability ( we are spoiled to be able to watch all the games)

Bad
How did we have a lead with Masha as QB at tech , he looks incapable.

Good:
Dante Shells - surprised he hasn't been talked about more this season. Talk about playing up to your potential. We saw flashes of it over the last 2 seasons, but wow!
Juwan Wells - Dude is a stud.
Alex Probert - His accuracy is better than Lunsford's and hitting a 51 yarder with 5 yards to spare is encouraging to see.

Bad:
Giving up 7 points to the worst offense in D-1 football.
Run game - reiterates issues on O-line.
Crowd - sure we had 1,000 more than CCU, but the turnout was abysmal.

Honorable Mention:
Calvert - He showed out with the stats and played a good game. I am still concerned with how many deep balls he threw when he shouldn't have and how many were into double/triple coverage, but I liked what I saw from him overall. He was not deserving of FOW or OPOW because of the talent level we played against.
